@missjewels:  I have used both on a regular basis. My 1st was only disposable. My 2nd was disposable until she turned 1 1/2, which was when my 3rd was born and I totally switched to cloth. Then for the 4th and 5th I went back to disposable. Also, when my 1st was 7 and still not able to get up to pee at night I switched him to cloth because I thought the Goodnights were keeping him too dry and not teaching him to wake up. It worked, he was getting up to pee in 2 months.

I plan on using mostly cloth, but will be totally OK with disposables when it feels easier, like on weekend vacations and trips to Disneyland, or if we have a babysitter who prefers disposable.

ETA: I changed my wording from “I’ll be using” to “I plan on using” because I am trying to be flexible in my expectations about how motherhood will be 🙂

@missjewels:  I plan on using cloth diaper inserts and use disposables only when necessary. (Travel, day visits, if I need a baby sitter, etc) Better for the earth 🙂

@missjewels:  We use disposables which have worked well for us.

We only use cloth at home.  We use disposables for daycare, overnight, and when we are out & about.

I plan to use cloth exclusively once we bring the baby home from the hospital.

Because of my gluten intolerance and concern that my baby will also have a gluten intolerance (my mom has it as well), I will be cloth diapering.  My SIL cloth diapered and loved it and has the cloth diapers she will give us, so savings all around.  🙂

We are planning on using disposables. I used to nanny for a CD baby & I wasn’t a fan. I know lots of people that have had success with cloth diapering & wonderful experiences!

We used disposable until around 2 months, when pooping became less frequent (as in, not every hour.) For awhile, we used cloth during the day, then disposable at night. Then for a long time, we used exclusively cloth except on trips. Little Man started getting a TERRIBLE diaper rash a few weeks ago, and to fix it, we needed to use vaseline and other additives not compatible with cloth diapering, so we went back to disposables. We tried going back to cloth a couple weeks ago and the rash came back. I’m getting ready to try cloth again–I really do prefer it, but I’m worried about little man reacting again. I think we’ll try cloth during the day and disposables at night again soon.

I have a stash of cloth diapers going. I have 40 one-size-fits all pocket diapers. 3 covers. About 20 prefold cloth diapers; between 50-70 hemp and flannel inserts. I also have about 50 – 60 cloth wipes.

I may periodically buy a very small pack of disposable diapers for others if we need a babysitter.

Plan on being mostly cloth here. From experience working in child care I know that those one size fits all diapers are more of a one size fits most situation (I have yet to find one that fits brand new infants really well) Trying to stay open in my expectations of motherhood like PPs said, but the plan is to use cloth from the time they fit exclusively save for times where it is impractical (long airplane rides, when baby is ill etc.)

Our newborn is currently in disposables but will be transitioning to cloth as soon as she gains a bit more weight (we have a stash of one-size which, as a PP noted, don’t actually fit very small babies yet.) I can’t wait to get her into cloth – it’s astonishing how many diapers they go through, and I just cringe at the thought of buying all those diapers only to throw them in the trash! I would far rather deal with the laundry.
