So I had 10 months to prepare myself for my wedding day (set for April 21st). Each month began with the same promise…this is the month I start working out so I will look and feel fabulous in my wedding dress. Each month went by…no excercise. No toning. No eating right. About four months into our engagement, I found my dress. To my absolute delight, the dress looked great on. It even needed to be taken in. So this didn’t exactly light a fire under my lazy butt to get on the fitness train. Fast forward through a forced long-distance relationship with my Fiance, trying to sell my condo in Chicago, then trying to rent it, finding a job in the new city we’ll both be living in…and I’ve probably put ON between 10-15 lbs. The reason I can’t tell you the exact amount of weight I’ve gained is because I’m terrified to get on a scale at this point!
Anyway, yesterday was my first bridal shower and the pictures are starting to roll in. And when I say roll, I mean rolls. I look horrible. I’m being hard on myself, I know…but I couldn’t be more disappointed in myself for getting to the 48 days away mark, and I haven’t done one thing to help myself feel great physically for the big day. Next weekend I have my frist fitting and I’m so scared that the dress won’t fit.
How did this happen? Has anyone experienced the same kind of thing out there? And does anyone know of some miracle weight-loss program that I can maintain for the next month and a half???

I am also trying to lose weight. I’ve lost about 14lbs so far but I haven’t lost a damn thing over the past couple of months.
I put off dress shopping until the last minute but finally got my dress this weekend…I purposely picked a dress that I thought I looked good in at this weight rather than picking a dress that I would look good in if I lost a few pounds.
I would just eat really healthy and exercise every day and drink lots of water to lose any bloat…you can make a big dent in about 7 weeks…probably 12-20lbs!

If you’ve got an okay base level of fitness (i.e. you’re not huffing/puffing just going up a flight of stairs), I’d highly recommend the 30 day programs from Jillian Michaels. I did the Ripped in 30. They are tough, but you will lose pounds and most of all, you will lose inches! If you can suck it up and stick with it for the 30 days, you’ll look and feel fantastic. FYI, you don’t want to be trying to lose weight in the last 2 wks because you will likely have all the alterations done on your dress by that point.

Thanks for your comments, ladies! I actually did just start doing the 30 day shred. So that, coupled with sticking to a specific amount of calories a day should help me…I hope. 🙂

@Merelton: you can do it. I went on a serious diet before shopping for a wedding dress and lost 12 pounds (2 full sizes on my frame) in about 6 weeks. Once you get started and lose even a little, you will feel encouraged to finish.

I just started the 30 day shred today and have also heard great things about it. I highly recommend Weight Watchers as well. Good luck!

@Merelton: Also, not sure what style gown you have, but it is possible that you can get away with just toning your arms and shoulders. These tone a lot faster than legs or stomach. You can significantly tone your arms and shoulders in 6 weeks.
