My shower is tomorrow! Wooohoo! Not a ton of things have been purchased off our registry. Which is whatever I just assumed maybe we wouldn’t get a ton of gifts.
Well last night i was over at my families and they were joking around about the gifts theyd biught and my aunt even mentioned that on the macys site it said we would like the gifts shipped to our home (dont remember doing that – just think we gave address in case people needed to ship) and so my family was joking that maybe ill just have a bunch of packages arrive rather than have gifts at the shower.
The thing is – nothing new is gone off of my registrY. Is it possible people are buying things but not buying them through the registry and therefore they arent gettig checked off on the registry??
Just curious! I will feel so bad if people get me two of the same thing and i open them both at the shower :/l

Nope. I only got 2 off-registry gifts. Many were from theregistry, but purchased last minute and many gift cards.

Alot of times if they purchase it in the store but do not tell the cashier its from a registry, the cashier will not know to remove it. This happened at my shower, I recieved 2 of the same decanter. I just laughed and joked that they both had great taste 😉 It was totally fine, not awkward at all!
Also the majority of the gifts I got at my shower were purchased the day before or the day of the shower so do not worry. There will be more gifts than you think!

And, if it does happen, it’s easy to go online to your registry listing and mark “purchased” for anything that you received. It’s also easy to return duplicates, most of the time. At Macy’s it’s a breeze, anyway. Target gives you a little more static – hope for gift receipts!

At my bridal shower I think only one gift came off of my registry. The other gifts were cute nities and spa type items. Still nice though

The majority of people that didn’t buy something from one of our registries gave us giftcards to one of the stores we registered at.

Not to freak you out but at my FI’s cousins shower she got a lot of gifts that were from her registry, but purchased in different stores because people wanted to save money and things were on sale other places. So she received two sets of 8 plates. One from the registry (FMIL) and one from another store (FGMIL). Future Mother-In-Law was pretty upset about it because she had purchased the gift off of the registry, but told FI’s cousin she could return her set and get something else instead. FGMIL just joked about how she would have to invite them over all the time now. Oh and this is FMIL’s Mother-In-Law, not FMIL’s mom. This is my single greatest fear since it seems to happen with all weddings on that side (certain people are repeat offenders). On a happy note, most people buy their gifts the day before or day of the event and lots of others give cash so I wouldn’t worry too much.

I found out at my shower that many gifta were bought off my registry but not through the registry which is also why I ended up with duplicate gifts. Some people I don’t think know how to use the registry or just forgot.

That message about shipping on the Macy’s registry is unclear. What they mean is that gifts that are ordered or shipped by your guests should go to that designated address, not that you want all your gifts to be shipped. I constantly have to explain that to customers >.<
I haven’t had any showers yet, but my friend who got married earlier this year got a few duplicates at her shower because people had bought things off of old copies of registries or because they bought them at other stores to use coupons ordeal better promotions.
