Sorry if this has been shared already. But a mother apparently names her child Hashtag (you may have seen it floating around twitter and FB) Opinions bees? Do we think it’s a hoax? What do you think of the name?

I just saw this on the news, too. It’s just funny. Hashtag is nicer than Pound Sign, though.

Definitely. I actually quite like the “sound” of it. Just, no. Lol.

I saw this somewhere and I couldn’t believe it. But then again didn’t some celebrity name her daughter Apple? People will name their kids the most interesting things..

I think it was Gwenyth Paltrow who named her kid apple.
Another weird one I always thought was when Nicolas Cage named his kid Kal-El

I think Frank Zappa still wins.
A girl I went to high school with named her little boy Ruger. Not horrible, but now she wants to name her daughter Colt! I make my living off guns, and I STILL can’t advocate that.

HA! This is funny because just last night I was saying how I wish hashtag didn’t exist at all. It’s so annoying.

Yes, I saw this story too! Since the hashtag is really the pound sign, this kid’s name is also Pound Jameson…perfect for those college parties! Oy…

You do not want to know some of the names I’ve heard in my life..
How would you pronounce the name: “L-a”? Unless you said “ladasha,” you were wrong. I kid you not, there is a kid out there with a hyphen as part of her first name and you’re expected to pronounce it as if it’s a word.

I used to work with a lot of folks from China and they sometimes name their kids “american-sounding” names in the hopes that the kids will immigrate and fit right in. I used to deal with a lady named Freedom and a guy named Mouse (presumably after Mickey Mouse?). I can’t blame those parents for doing that to their kids – they don’t know English well so they must be picking something that just sounds nice.
This hashtag lady has no such excuse, she’s just an idiot.
