Yikes, no. Although I wonder what that experience would be like. I know that it probably happens in all bridal stores, but I always feel like when I watch Say Yes to the Dress that the salespeople get super annoyed with the brides and are even a bit rude. If the people I worked with were rude, then at least it was behind my back lol

The furthest I went was like 2 hours.

Haha whut?

Maybe in my dreams!

I have travelled 8+hours east (to the nearest city) and looked, only to be disappointed with the meagre selection and nauseating customer service (To all Canadian brides, avoid Thunder Bay ON like the plague).

I will be travelling 9-10hours west to look in a somewhat larger city, with about 5x the bridal shops as T-Bay sometime in July, and I am hoping that there will be better hunting grounds there.

If I had a huge amount of dispensable income I would catch the next flight to Toronto or Vancouver, but sadly, that is not the case.

I am within driving distance of it and never heard of it untill I saw “SAY YES TO THE DRESS”. I think if you walk in there with a budget less then 2000 you may not say yess to anything at all…eh eh. I heard they run from 1800 and up as a starting point.

Ick I wouldn’t want to go to Kleinfelds just because I spend the entire show making fun of most of the self-entitled women on there.  Not that they are all like that, but a good chunk of them (remember the “Boggling” girl?  It’s boggling to me you won’t buy this $15,000 dress for me!”)  wtf?! lol

Anyway back to your questions.  Nope, I didn’t travel far away to any stores, I went to a bridal boutique where I live and got my dress there!  I love this shop and have done business with them before (prom dresses way back in high school) so I knew I would get excellent service!  I definitely did and was so happy with everything!

I travelled 3 hours to find my beauty and I am glad I did!

Not that the stores in my city are bad I was just very lucky (I was in TO anyway)

@missmouse I am sorry you are having a hard time finding a dress! I hear the Sudbury shops aren’t too bad but I Know that is further than TB.

Did you think about doing a drive down to TO for a girls weekend of fun and dress shopping?

@shaydenise – I totally remember the “boggling” girl! She was so terrible!!! I could not believe she got her way in the end (or I think she did, as far as I remember).

I myself bought a dress at a store in town, but my FI’s co-worker’s wife-to-be flew to NYC to go to Kleinfeld’s (5 hour flights both ways… that’s dedication).

Drove 4 hours to the nearest city. I wish I could go to Kleinfeld…. but no. We have a super designer boutique here in STL that sells Vera, Monique, Amsale, etc. I considered going for fun but didnt. I have expensive taste that I cant afford and figured it was too dangerous.

@ Future Mrs. Martin

Ohhhhhhhhhhhh I would Looove to go for a girls weekend in TO! Unfortunately one Bridesmaid or Best Man lives in Victoria, one in Saskatoon & two in Winnipeg. 2 of them are finishing up university, one is a single mom & the other just started a super lucrative graphic design job.. so as far as I know, it’s pretty well out of their budget/schedule, plus they’ll all be travelling for the wedding as well. I have thought about asking my sister to go with me if/when I go out to Halifax to visit again.

The shops aren’t supposed to be awful in Winnipeg, which is where I’m headed next & that way I can possibly meet up with the girls that live there.

I drove 3 hours so I could meet my sisters and mom somewhere, since they live several hours away and I ended up driving farther, but there were more of them and they live closer to a place with lots of dress shop options than I do.

I guess I don’t know that much about Kleinfelds but do they have much more unique stuff than any big city?

There are a ton of wedding dress shops (a whole bridal district!) where I live, so I didn’t even have to leave my city. 🙂
