@Binoculars: We selected our venue without ever seeing it. In face, we didn’t see it until we arrived for the reception. However, our reception was pretty simple, just a luncheon in the private dining room of a nearby restaurant. The restaurant was an upscale chain, and we were very familiar with their food since there is another restaurant in the chain near us. We checked out pictures of the inside and outside of the restaurant. We checked online reviews. And we checked with brides in the area in which we were having our reception about the restaurant. With all that, we felt quite confident about our choice. And it worked out perfectly on the day.
I also agree with Mademoiselle: You need to keep in mind that even if things aren’t totally perfect on the day, you’ll still end up married, and you’ll still have a chance to celebrate with those you care about.

Sort of… My venue used to be a roller rink… and I went there when it was one. My mom went to a wedding there a few years ago and was amazed at everything they had done to the place. When I started looking for venues one thing I was looking for was something that was non traditional. I knew it was going to be more work, but i didn’t want to be restricted by a strick dinning hall.
I live a few hours away from my hometown and my mom contacted the venue right away to get info and about a week or so later I said she could book the venue, all with out me or my Fiance seeing the actual venue (or atleast in the last five to ten years!)
