I stipulated no bigger than 3/4 carat because that’s huge already and anything bigger for me felt extravagant and not me.

At the same time it is now in a paved band and LOOKS HUGE!  I love it though.

I picked out my e-ring. I’m one of those girls that didn’t want a diamond but her Fiance did, so I picked a smaller one. It’s .38ct IIRC.

Im on the fence….

my man has a beautiful 1.2c heirloom rock which I would love to sport every day but I am set to finish nursing school in exactly a year which means I can only wear it a few days a week when Im not in the hospital and Ive always wanted to be one of those girls that never removed the ring except to clean it.

I think we figured out what we are going to do, get the heirloom diamond set in a simple setting for the engagement but get a diamond free or just very small and completely flush setting for the wedding band. I wont be wearing the engagement ring often because as much as that rock sparkles I am a huge clutz with a job that is just plain dangerous to have that thing on my hand.

so I wont take off the wedding band but the engagement ring is just for special occasions or when I have free time (haha wish I knew what that was like)

So I got a 1ct…..and it is hurting my fingers, taking away from the detailed band and I have no room for my wedding ring! LOL We are downsizing to a .5!

The 1ct:

The .5 ct unfinished with wedding band:

The .5 on a woman with much larger hands than mine:

I think this will fit me and my lifestyle much better ๐Ÿ™‚

I have a .5 carat Leo Diamond and oh how it sparkles! I actually told Fiance NOT to get me a diamond but he did anyway! I am notorious for losing and ruining jewelry so I am nervous with this one. I can only imagine how nervous I would be with a larger one!

I love small stones rings!! I also love big stone rings.. I just don´t see why the size of the stone would be such an issue when it comes to liking a ring.  They are different styles, so for me it´s just a matter personal preference.

Looking threw this post made me realize I haven’t posted on it yet, when I thought I did! Anyways my ring is a 1/5th carat marquise solitaire on a 10k white gold band & my wedding band is a 4mm plain white gold band. I love both of my rings sooo much! & My hubby actually had me a 1/2 carat princess cut on layaway and I changed my mind and went with a smaller marquise solitaire. Which actually stood up the 1/2 carat princess’s size due to its shape/cut. I love it & its perfect for me & loving everyone elses gorgeous rings ladies!!!!!!!!! ๐Ÿ™‚

@Statutory Grape: I *love* your ring! The garnet is so pretty!

@His Lil SantosGirl: I can’t believe someone SCOFFED at your ring! Actually, I can. I had one of the women at my work say “How will anyone know it’s your engagement ring? It’s not a diamond and it’s too small!”

My stone is a sapphire, so again, not sure on equivalent weight – looks like maybe .33? Stones on the side are .32 tcw. My fiance proposed with a sweet ring he purchased on Etsy with a blue bead, since he knew I wanted a sapphire. We designed it together, and I got to choose my sapphire as well. It’s everything I’ve EVER wanted in a ring. Here it is:

i love my ring! its a .5 with a halo. I thought that it was an appropriate size considering my age (20) and our budget (we’re students) big rings just aren’t my thing. I wouldn’t feel comfortable spending more than 2k on my ring. I just don’t see the point

@egb:

Not the only one ๐Ÿ™‚ …I’m into “small” mayself. They just look better to ME…it’s funny because I’m always looking for the cute factor in erings on women. I could care less about size. Although a RHR is another story, lol.

@Mrs.Anchors:  I agree with you!  I always attract more to the rings I would consider cute.  Not cute as in small, but how the setting looks, no matter what the stone size is.

I have always felt that engagement rings should be a little smaller, which is why I told my FI I wouldn’t like anything over 1 carat.  He chose the size and it is pretty nice!  I have a .58 stone and I think it looks pretty good.  Everyone has told me that it is perfect for me, and I couldn’t agree more!

Mine’s 1/3 carat and it fits my little hands perfectly. Plus I inherited the stone from my late grandmother and had it set with sapphires (my favorite color) so it’s meaningful. Jenbee, yours is absolutely fantastic (the .5 ct), it’s so artistic.
