- Wedding: September 2013
My fiance and I always thought we’d go on a cruise for our honeymoon. We went on one in 2009 and it was awesome, and I’d love to do it again.
But the wedding is only 6 months away and I just started a new job a few months ago and we are in the processing of buying a house and ….ugh. We have been running around like chickens with our heads cut off and money has been pouring out of our pockets and we’ve been so stressed and ….. yeah.
While I would love to cruise again, and see other places/islands, we started thinking maybe a low-key vacation to the Outer Banks during the off season (October) might be better. We also vacationed there in 2008 and loved it.
I honestly just can’t imagine dealing with the flights, passports, security, baggage claim, cruise ports, extreme heat, massive crowds, etc, etc. that comes with a cruise.
I feel like after the wedding, I will just want to relax and breeeeaaaaathe for the first time in YEARS.
If we go to the Outer Banks, we can pretty much do anything (or nothing) we want, all at our own pace.
With a cruise, I feel like there’s so much added stress and it’s one of those trips where I feel like I’d need a vacation from my vacation.
So did anyone else forgoe the traditional wild, crazy, over the top, “expected” honeymoon and do something cheaper, quieter, lazier, and more relaxing??
