Our Groomsmen wore vests under their tuxes but never took their jackets off…I think it would have been super cute and I love that idea.  I wish I had thought of that for our brunch wedding, since it wasn’t as formal.

I won’t be doing this, but I think that looks great. If you are going to be outdoors your guys will probably appreciate not having the jacket on. The look is still polished looking.

I think it looks perfectly fine, especially for the summer.

This is what we’re planning to do only with tan suits.

Ours had vests under their coats, but I think for a summery, semi-destination, ocean wedding, that would be perfect!

I LOVE this look! We did this 🙂 The Groomsmen wore colored shirts with vests and pants and my Darling Husband wore the same vest and pants with the matching suit jacket. Darling Husband did take the jacket off for some pics and for most of the reception 🙂 Here are some pics…

I love the look! It’s beautiful, and I think it is perfect for a semi-desti wedding, added in with the cost savings seems like a score to me!  You can already see how the pics will turn out from your sample photo, so if you like it I’d go with it!

I really like this look too.

I am thinking of doing this for our wedding too. Fiance loves vests (he has a huge collection) and it would save his groomsmen money.

Make sure the vests have a full back!  Some vests that come with tuxes especially are not meant to be worn without a jacket, so they don’t have fabric in the back.

@Beckster329:  Good point… We found a 3 piece suit for a great price from JCP… The Groomsmen bought just the vest and pants and my Darling Husband bought all 3 pieces… Usually a vest from a suit has a full back, but this is not usually the case with tuxes… Sometimes they will have the full vest, but certainly not always

We’re doing all vests – groom included – but he will have a different color tie.

But yes, the vests at the tuxedo rental places do NOT have backs.  Ours (also charcoal gray) all came from Express, and they were on sale for 59.99.

I think it looks great.  Ours will be wearing vests under their tux jackets and I’m expecting that they’ll take the jackets off for most of the night.
