    @Bunny_the_Bride:

    We discussed getting married in late June or early July (no rings or proposal—it’s just not how we roll). Eloped in August. When it came to making it legal, we were very much “sh!t or get off the pot.” Zero regrets.

    @Bunny_the_Bride:  I felt like our engagement was “short” for industry standards, but I never felt that rushed getting things done. We were engaged Nov. 30 and married Sept. 1, nine month engagement.

    One big plus for the shorter engagement, there isn’t enough time for the plans to spiral out of control.

    @Bunny_the_Bride:  I’m hoping for 18 months – 1 year.  We have discussed the time of year we’d like to get married and both decided the summer isn’t for us (the weather here isn’t reliable anyway, and the prices are SO MUCH more expensive, just because it’s “peak season”) and we both have birthdays at the start of the year March & April so have sort of pencilled Nov 2015.  I know he’s going to propose before March 2015, so that’s the ball park.  I wouldn’t mind a shorter engagement, but it does really depend on the time of year we’d like to get married

    Ours is a couple of weeks over one year. I am excited about being his wife and some days I can’t wait for the wedding, but mostly I just want to enjoy this stage in my life. It’s the only time I’ll ever be engaged! Plus, we’re trying to arrange everything at a relatively casual pace over the next few months…and then essentially forget about it all. We’ll be much more relaxed on our wedding day if the planning isn’t all fresh in our minds, I think.

    We just want to get married too, would LOVE to have only had a 1 year engagement, or 18 months. But having a long engagement for school, health and financial reasons, nothing to do with the wedding itself, so not just wanting more time to save up or plan or anything like that lol. We have been engaged for over two years already. A shorter engagement sounds wonderful! Although more stress I imagine!

    I don’t think this website is more geared to longer engagements, sometimes I think the opposite! But in reality I think both short and long engagements are fairly equally represented.

    @Bunny_the_Bride:  Our engagement is exactly 10 months and 10 days 🙂 It is working well for us. To be honest though I have most of the bigger things done and I reckon 6-7 months would have been plenty of time, but in the end it has been nice not to rush.
