Me! I chose my best friend and my sister. All my friends are scattered all over the country, so while they came to the wedding, working out the logistics of bridesmaid stuff between Georgia, Minnesota, New York and Pennsylvania would have been really difficult. Plus, our chapel was quite small and the guest list was only 90 so a big wedding party would really have been too much. We had two BMs and two GMs and two ushers and it worked great for us.

I have a theory that the older you are and/or if you have moved away from your hometown; you are more likely to have a smaller bridal party.

As we get older and with increased distances, friends you had growing up because you are geographically/chronologically close have drifted apart, leaving only the one of two very special friendships.

I am only having 2 as well.  My 2 besties.  I only wanted those super close to me.  My BFF has been my friend for 30 years and my other bestie for about 27.  No need to have a whole entourage!

We had our siblings only- my 2 sisters and his brother. It was really special and made it feel like we were being welcomed into each others’ families.

Our friends participated in other ways. My BFF came and got ready with us on the wedding day and put our bouquets together from the farmers market. My husbands’ buddies planned a bachelor party even though they were not in the wedding party.

Our friends appreciated not spending money on tux rentals or bm dresses and they got to arrive with their dates and spend time with them at the ceremony/reception

I only had two. I’ve seen weddings where people only have one as well. You don’t have to have big wedding parties for great pictures.

@ohheavenlyday:  your pictures are fabulous! I was really worried how pictures would turn out considering I am only having two girls beside me.

I’m not having any bridesmaids – i didnt think it was necessary and no one seems to think thats weird 🙂 And i agree – its far cheaper!
