zamorski:  I am but I have a small photography business. My income is only about $500-$700 a month during the spring and summer. I use to photograph weddings but stopped a few years ago. Now I just do a few portraits sessions a month.

We both have engagement rings, so I guess kind of! Although hers cost about half as much as mine since she wanted a fairly plain one. We’ve also purchased each other’s wedding bands.

finnrose:  I am sorry for that stupid and too personal question. I just can’t forget your previous topic 🙁

Back to rings – we’ve payed for my ring from our common account.

We didn’t split the cost, but I would have been more than happy to do So! Fi didn’t want it to be split so he insisted he pay for my engagement ring and wedding ring himself.

Sandpaper:  Well, we didn’t split the cost entirely – I paid 1/3 and Fiance paid the rest. I make more money than him, and he’s not getting a ring until we’re married, so I offered to pay some of it. This is also due to me wanting a custom ring, which is really expensive in my country. So by chipping in myself, I got exactly what I wanted 🙂 Also, I just wouldn’t be comfortable with him spending that much money on a ring for me.. It just didn’t feel right, so I’m happy he was OK with me paying some of it.

We had joint financials (running a business together) before we got engaged so I guess we paid equally.

I guess technically he bought it himself buuuut we live together so it’s still money coming out our shared household. Idk, not something I think about. I think I’m paying for our wedding bands but that’s because I’m paying for our entire wedding while he’s taking on some of the household bills that I used to take care of. Again, same home, same pot of money so I guess WE are paying for everything in some regard.

Yes, we actually just bought an engagement ring online on Friday night  and we are splitting the cost. So you are not alone!

Yes and no.  My H paid for part and put the rest on a line of credit.  After we got engaged, we bought our house and combined finances so both of our incomes went toward all the bills.  I was fine with that because I made more but he had the better credit score at the time.  We also both paid for our bands.

I helped a bit at first.  Then he paid me back.  I think he wanted too bc of pride.  At the time, I was making a lot more, and we just really wanted to be engaged.  We were just happy being together.
