I totally was not expecting that! From what I’ve read they just swab the outside. This one felt like a pap smear, like the q tip hit my cervix. Holy crap! If that hurt me I don’t even want to think about the pain of a vaginal birth.

Isn’t group B swab supossed to be around your anus?
..and it shouldn’t hurt!
If your doc was swabbing up high in your vagina, I would ask exactly what it was for!

humm…yeah they only swabbed mine just inside my vagina and then ran it down. Nowhere near my cervix!

Yea mine hurt. but it wasn’t because of my cervix or anything. She like pushed down so much on my vagina when she swabbed that it hurt. Plus it was a dry hard cotton swab which seemed rough. Then I’ve got a hemroioid or two so the other end was miserable. In fact it made me bleed a little bit. 🙁

It was a nurse practitioner that did it. She did the inside of the vagina like a pap smear and around the rectum. The rectum part did not hurt and didn’t even seem like it went inside. I asked her if it was normally painful for people and she said no. She said it might be because I haven’t had intercourse in awhile. So that means she did go up in there pretty good right? Ugh.

They sent me to the bathroom and I had to do it myself … the instructions said to get around the mouth of the vagina and the starfish, not to actually go up inside them. Sounds like she did it wrong!
Also, don’t worry — childbirth doesn’t feel anything like getting a raggedy q-tip shoved up your bits 🙂

hspw714: I say poo-poo to it hurting because of possibly not having sex in a while. At that point it had been, like, two months if not more for Darling Husband and I and I didn’t feel a thing. I don’t think she did it properly. I had worked myself up so much for it to hurt and it was just like a little tickle in both areas.
