Just wondering if this is common… who all has included someone in their bridal party that you really didn’t want to be there?
I have this friend that I’d been best friends with for 7-8 years. In the last 3 years or so we’ve become so distant. I was in ‘denial’ and only about 6 months ago realized that she really didn’t make an effort into seeing or talking to me ever, so I gave up. But then I got engaged. I feel like she still believed that she was my best friend and I felt I had to include her. I would love it if I didn’t have to and it was a long debate in my mind if I would or not. When I asked her on the phone (after trying 3 times to get together in person) she said “Yes of course! I thought you’d better ask me to be a bridesmaid!” She said it jokingly, but in my head all I thought was “Yeah, it almost didn’t happen”.
I just feel like it’s such an effort to see her and she’s turned me down so many times. I called her specifically a few months ago when I was going through a really hard time and she couldn’t even give me the time of day. She did apologize a few months later, but still. I just almost feel sick knowing she’s a part of my special day.
Anyway, is anyone else in the same boat? Do you find it hard to deal with?
