My husband & I have been married since December 11th, 2010. We never had a honeymoon nor a minimoon due to his work. (If he got some time off we could have had a minimoon!) But he was only allowed off two days (the day of our wedding & the day after.) So instead we just spend that weekend home enjoying our new married life together. It was relaxing!
Since then we haven’t took any big trips, a few small ones – Zoo trip, ski resort, nascar races, ect. But nothing huge thus far.
That had me wondering how many couples actually never had a honeymoon? If you took your first big trip years after did you considered it your never before had honeymoon or just another trip? I have heard of “second” honeymoons so it was just a thought, haha.
Here we are the weekend of our wedding (actually the day after our wedding & last day my husband had off before having to go back to work.) So you see how it was spent, haha! Snow, snow snow!

We didn’t have one, either! Nor a minimoon. We just didn’t have the time off or the extra cash, and we definitely didn’t want to charge one. We are hoping to take a big trip for our 2nd anniversary, but we will just have to wait and see. We own our home, though, so we can’t feel too badly about not having a fancy vacay. 😉

@simplifiedbride: Yea, that was us as well! After our wedding we actually had some cash from family. Not alot because we had a super small wedding but enough to take a super small minimoon possible. But we didn’t have the time!
Ah, lucky you! haha We rent still!

We didn’t! We had a cross country move and setting up our new house in OR that ate up our honeymoon money. We’re taking a small trip (3 days) for our 1 year anniversary. I’m still a little bitter about it, but settling into our new life together was more important. We were under a deadline to get moved and settled before my husband started his job.

@Sweet.Sugar.Rose: We won’t! We are going to DC tomorrow to visit family and then going to Louisiana to visit my family this fall…we chose family over honeymoon, even though we will see them all at the wedding in June, we want to see them more 🙂

We didn’t. We spent a couple of nights in a hotel in our home city and that was it. Darling Husband couldn’t get the time off work for us to go anywhere and then it’s been one thing after another since then (trans-atlantic move, Father-In-Law died, got pregnant, now we’re having a baby…)
I think we’re planning to go on a trip with the little one sometime in late Spring-early Summer though. It’ll probably be Italy or Ireland/Scotland.

We MIGHT have some kind of mini-moon but only because we’re having the wedding in Northern California and we live in Southern California. He graduates from med school the week after and I’ll be graduating with my masters 2 weeks later… I dont’ think we’ll have time or money to have a honeymoon! maybe one day!

We weren’t planning on a honeymoon because of finanaces and about 2 weeks before the wedding, my parents offered us $500 for a mini-moon (VERY generous of them, considering they paid for our whole wedding…). We spent 2 nights (really 1 day) at a localish B&B and went out for a nice dinner.
I am still a little bitter too, since all of my friends have gone on fairly extravagent honeymoons, but we’ll live.
More then anything, Darling Husband and I are just dying for a freakin’ vacation. We both work really hard and feel like it is kind of for nothing, since we still can’t afford to ever do anything 🙁
