I only have two bridesmaids and I spent about $100 each on them. I got them each a necklace from Berricle, a statue of Hera (we’re big mythology geeks and she’s the Greek goddess of marriage), and I took them out to dinner last night. The gifts seemed to be a big hit 🙂

I would have loved to spoil my ladies (and really planned on doing-so), but things didn’t go as planned. They each got a necklace, sunglasses and slippers. Oh, and engraved champagne flutes…

Some also had 2 dinners (courtesy of guests who RSVPed “yes” and didn’t show), and all were generous partakers of the top shelf open bar, all night, so I don’t think they’d complain.

I felt i was reasonably generous but not crazy.  We gave the Bridesmaid or Best Man a pair of earrings and the Maid/Matron of Honor the same earrings and also the matching necklace.  The earrings were maybe $55 Swarovski starfish and the necklace was maybe $80. We gave the groomsmen Toms and ties. Everyone was obviously permitted to wear these items for the wedding but not required. I spent a really long time choosing gifts would my girls would legitimately like. My mom wanted me to give them pandora charms, but I knew MoH would love it and the other Bridesmaid or Best Man would have politely accepted and then never work it. I wanted something that would remind them of the wedding without screaming wedding to others, so the starfish were a nice reminder of our beach wedding.

i also gave them hangers with their names in the wire, but that was more for me and the pictures than for them even though they met them so I didn’t really count them as part of the gift.

Well…for reference, my sister bought us the Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses for her wedding and that was it…those were not even nice dresses and not even worth wearing it again.

 –

However, when I asked my sister to be my Bridesmaid or Best Man, she asks for $400 worth of present PER Bridesmaid or Best Man AND pay for EVERYTHING (dresses…shoes…makeup…hair…etc.) — yeah right.

 –

Needless to say…she’s no longer a Bridesmaid or Best Man.

 –

Anyway, I’m planning on getting my girls customize necklaces, a terrarium (to put in their office), and I will probably end up buying their dresses.  I think present should come from the heart and not on the $$.  I want to get my girls something that’s memorable to them and not just wedding “stuffs”. — but that’s just me.

Well said!

Also, I have read too often, “Well, I have (insert large number) attendants in my party so I can’t do much for them.”

Who chose the number please?
