We used this picture…

I just loved how it looked so old fashioned, simple, and romantic. The engagement ring is very similar to mine too:)

We didnt!! We actually went the cheap rout and paid like 6 bucks for business cards on vista print the money was for the shipping. Put allthe info on them put a colored background around it and a magnet on the back and called it a day. They were super easy, cheap and looked great!!

Nope we didnt! We got postcards from vistaprint and used a photo of two beach chairs overlooking the ocean. We’re having a beach wedding so it fit perfectly.

I think lots of people use regular photos for their save the date.  Many people don’t even have engagements done.  It’s more popular now because so many photographers include them in their total wedding package.  I don’t think it’s weird at all to use non pro photos for your STD.  We didn’t use photos at all!!

@flutterbi: I don’t think it’s too much, but remember you have to still pay for postage.  We spent about 95 cents each, including postage, because i knew there’d be other things i’d rather spend money on for the wedding.  For us, the Save-The-Date Cards were waaaay down the priority list.

I used a photo we already had (it’s my WB profile picture actually), turned it black and white and voila! I think they came out lovely and didn’t need engagement pics as we had a few photos that were STD worthy, IMO. In the UK engagement photo shoots aren’t common, so while I often drule over them on here, I just didn’t feel the need to spend the extra £££. I bet yours will come out fabulous!

We haven’t taken engagement photos yet and we already sent out our STD’s because we are having a destination wedding. For our STD’s we used a picture from when my fiance proposed on the beach in the dominican republic. It doesn’t seem weird to me at all. I say go for it! =]

@flutterbi: $100 seems like a bit much, to be honest. For 40 we paid about $25

We didn’t, but we haven’t taken our engagement pics yet!!  If you can coordinate it, I think it’s cute to include the pictures 🙂  I went with a simple save the date because I wanted to slowly set the tone for the wedding, but not commit to a concrete style that will lead up to the actual invitations, if that makes sense??

No photos in ours! Ours are very simple as I’m not a huge fan of photo STD’s.

I don’t want to get engagement pics done until Spring, so we went to a nice location a few weeks ago and I set up my tripod and took photos of us that are engagement photo-like, but not actual engagement photos. One will be on the STD.
