@FutureMrsJohnston:  I don’t think it will be weird at all. As long as you don’t show up in sweatpants and a stained t-shirt you can wear pretty much whatever. It’s your bridal shower. Choose an outfit that is nice, but makes you feel confident.

ETA: I found a guide of sorts online, and this rule really stuck out:

‘Feel Pretty
As simple as it sounds, wear what makes you feel like the charming, classy, intelligent woman you are. Dresses are most popular for this occasion, and with so many styles and lengths, there are plenty of options to make you feel pretty. But if you find comfort and style in a great printed pant or even a short, those can be equally as cool.

I’m not going to wear a dress, I’ll probably wear a nice article of white clothing, maybe a tank and cardigan or something.

I didn’t!

My bridal shower was a total, 100% surprise. I was in school when we got married as are most of my friends, and I was pretty sure NOBODY had time to be planning bridal showers.

My mom tried to get me to dress up a little without giving away the surprise, but I’m a pretty casual chick.

I wore a cute(ish) top, some skinny jeans, and Steve Madden combat-inspired booties. Talk about *not* wearing a dress.

I didn’t wear a dress to any of mine.  I have a very difficult time finding attractive dresses that are well proportioned to my body, so my “go to” outfits for work or church (and also my showers) were nice dress pants worn with high heels and paired with twin sets or other nice sweaters or jackets and tops.

Lol, ALL my Bridal Showers have been surprises…

The couple I had for my First Marriage were all summertime affairs, I know I looked like something the cat dragged in (cause I’ve seen the photos) … flip flops, cut off shorts, a tshirt… and “Humidity Hair” at its finest !!

This time round, was a Surprise Couples Shower thrown under the pretense of another casual get-together (I had no clue there would be a Party for us… as we are Encores and Older)

Thankfully this time I didn’t look like a complete spaz… I had on a clean & decent pair of jeans & a sweater.

I must admit I am a tad envious of all the Brides2B I read about on WBee who know ahead of time when their Showers are, and get to pick out a wonderful outfit to wear

But then this is just one more element of things that have changed when it comes to Bridal Showers…

In reality, the good old fashioned “not a lot expected” I think was a lot more fun and meaningful than the current incarnation… as I read a lot of posts here on WBee about Brides who are disappointed by how the event turns out (which I think it sad).

@FutureMrsJohnston:  My shower is in Jan so I have been thinking about this some and my main thought is there will probably be a LOT of pictures (compared to an average day) so above all just wear something you feel comfortable and pretty in!

I didn’t have a shower, but I wore slacks for my bachelorette and to our rehearsal dinner.  I’m not a dress person – although I did wear one for the wedding itself!
