This is premature post since I haven’t received our invites yet.  (They should be coming in sometime next week!)  I used West Willow on Etsy.  We had her customize an existing invite and tweaked it.  And, she was a pleasure to work with and edited the proofs very quickly.  I love how we were able to personalize the invites to our tastes.

@Brideonabudgetlauren:  Will do!  I have our proof if you want to see them.  I’m sure it’ll look different on print, though.

My Fiance and I couldn’t find an invitation we both agreed on from the usual suspects (Wedding Paper Divas, Minted, etc), so we turned to Etsy. We ordered both Save the Dates and invitations from A la Mode Bride, and was very happy with the communication, turnaround, and final product. We haven’t gotten our invitations yet (they’ll be here next week!), but the Save-The-Date Cards were beautiful and we got lots of compliments on them.

I ordered the art from SetApartDesigns and then bought my own paper (I’m very particular :), printed and assembled them on my own.

The art process was awesome – he did anything custom that we needed, including, text, copy, layout, and he created a matching “directions/lodging” card for us. Doing it this way, my invitations cost about $1.30 each.

Yes. I’m sure plenty of people have positive experiences, but I did NOT. Here’s a glimpse of the beginning of my problems:

Etsy dispute – please help!

That soon transformed into a full-fledged psycho situation with a seller who has over 400 extremely positive reviews – a fact that normally would totally convince me to purchase from the seller. However, the anonymity of coming through a computer screen allowed her to totally try to take advantage of me.

Long story short:

  • I ordered invites in January. They were supposed to arrive about Feb 20.
  • Mid March – still hadn’t arrived. Seller used an incorrect address so the package was lost for a while. I asked for a refund or overnighted new invites – she refused.
  • I contacted Visa and PayPal for a refund. They froze her PayPal account.
  • Invites arrived. I reversed the funds back to her.
  • Weeks later, threatening emails began to arrive. My bank didn’t tell me that the money was frozen for a certain period, and the seller thought I was withholding the money. She also demanded that I pay her PayPal fines. Then she threatened to show up AT MY WEDDING!!!!!

Here’s her latest email:

It has now been one week past your estimated date of my payment and 3 months past the date of purchase and I have been EXTREMELY patient in dealing with you.

This has been very uncomfortable for me as I have not ever dealt with a bride who tried not to pay for her wedding invitations.

Not only do I think this is an awful way for you to start off your marriage, but I think that you need to make arrangements PROMPTLY to pay me what is owed plus the additional fees that I have had to pay.

I am not in the business of bill collecting, but I can assure you that I will not go away until you remit what is owed to me.  In fact, I am actually heading to Yosemite during the week of your wedding and this issue has annoyed me so that I would love to come to the [INSERT RECEPTION VENUE] and meet you in person on your wedding/reception day.

I would recommend that you borrow the money to pay me and then continue to work things out with your credit card company because after today I will begin an incredibly uncomfortable situation for you.

After that, I contacted an attorney, blocked her email, and confirmed with my bank that the money had indeed been released to her.

Again, I would NOT recommend Etsy for such an important purchase. In hindsight, the $50 or so I saved would’ve been MUCH better spent dealing with a local vendor, with whom I could meet in person and have normal, human being interations.

She also wrote me CRAZY rude feedback on Etsy even though my feedback was “neutral,” professional, and mostly positive towards her. Not worth it.

I was going to but then I found the site she ordered the materials from to make my invites and saw it was cheaper to make them myself.

i’m in the process of ordering from pink orchid invites.

she is actually booked for the summer and has even put her shop on “vacation” for a week… but everything is going well so far.

my advice would be to BOOK EARLY.

i found these invites well over a year ago but was dragging my feet when it came to placing the order, because i coudn’t decide which options to include. if i had waited any longer i wouldn’t have been able to book her in time.

I had an amazing experience. I used Down2EarthPaperworks for my invitations and seating chart and loved what I got. She was really open to making my updates and personalizing the invitations to be just the way I wanted. I went with the McKenzie design.

I had a wonderful experience with Diana Weir at InvitedDesign on Etsy! I would highly recommend her. Our Save the Dates are gorgeous and we are ordering our invitations from her as well!

I used GreenQuince and she was by far my favorite vendor of them all.  She understood my vision and NAILED the execution.    Shipping was great and she was a dream to work with.  My invites were perfection and I highly recommend her!

Yep, I did. The experience was great and I was very happy with the end product. I don’t have any pro pics of my invites on this computer but here’s a crappy iPhone pic…

If you have any specific questions, I can try to answer them for you.
