We are getting married in April, having a few days away then having our honeymoon in June as we want to settle into our new house first.

heyitsnicolelee:  We took ours like 6 weeks after. Darling Husband is in law school and had his big internship last summer, so he couldn’t take time off during that to go. We went the day after he finished!

I also know of two couples personally who postponed due to school/work obligations and never actually went on their honeymoon. Life got in the way, I guess, but I know both couples still regret it (and plan to do something big for their 5 year anniversaries).

We took a mini honeymoon right after we got married, but our big honeymoon will be on our first anniversary lol.

heyitsnicolelee:  We got married in May 2014, and the following summer, we visited both our families on opposite coasts of Canada (which is not a honeymoon lol). Our honeymoon ended up to be in September and October 2015 (just a few weeks ago), when we spent two months in Europe (I had never been and I’m almost 40). So yes we waited a year and a half, but it was so worth it! And such a long trip brought us even closer (It could have had the opposite effect lol). So we are very happy we waited!

We got married in September and we’re finally getting to do something small in January. Well be going to the poconos but we’re planning our big honeymoon for the summer. We’re looking at Hawaii for that one.

We got married in October and our honeymoon is in June — we are going to Europe for three weeks.

We did! We got married at the beginning of August and didn’t go on our honeymoon until the end of November- over Thanksgiving. We did it that way to A) avoid hurricane season and B) work schedules. It was easier for Darling Husband over a holiday because he’s a teacher and is taking grad school classes so he wouldn’t miss as much school, and I can only take 1 week off during the primetime summer months, which wasn’t enough for the wedding and honeymoon together. It worked out great! It sort of stretched out our celebrating instead of getting everything overwith all at once and it gave me more time to focus on planning the honeymoon.

We’re planning to postpone ours. I’m in grad school and while I could take the time off, it would really set me back a lot. Right now we’re thinking we’ll do a short domestic trip (or a groupon 4 day escape) immediately following the wedding and then plan for a 10 day to 2 week trip when I graduate in a few years. We’ll have more disposable income at that point (FI works for the government and, based on the payscale increases that comes with his job knows that he’ll be making nearly double what he makes now. And I’ll be on the verge of a real job–not living on a student stipend) and more time so it just makes sense.

Also planning to postpone ours. I’ve recently started a new job so makes sense to get settled in before asking for an extended period of time off. Also, we need to make sure we choose the right season for our trip to New Orleans too. I don’t mind, though. Some of our family is coming over from the States so would be good to see them after the wedding.

Our honeymoon has been postponed twice, last minute, due to family emergencies. We’ve lost thousands of dollars because of it. We’ve been married almost a year and still no honeymoon 🙁
