I have a round stone myself but I’ve always wondered about setting a cushion cut stone sidewards. I’m surprised that I haven’t seen even a single one on the sight – considering how many different rings there are! I’d love to see it if you have it!

@nushka: I agree, that would be really cool to see! I thought very seriously about getting an oval sideways which for me was also really hard to find. Fortunately, with my round stone in a half bezel I still get the horizontal oval look 🙂

I’ve never seen one in person but I saw this online:

@PeaceLoveLaughter: Yikes I hate those prongs, but I do love the idea of making a ring extra unique with a sideways cushion!

When we were looking at cushion cuts, my fiance loved the one below (only in white/not yellow gold). And our jeweler carried this type of tension set cushion cut…but I was not a fan; and honestly this was the only setting I’ve ever seen a horizontal cushion cut in. I definitely like my cushion vertical.

@MsCarabiner: I know a girl who is planning to have an oval stone set sideways but we’ll see if she goes through with it!
I can’t tell if I even like it set sideways but I’m sure if I saw it more, it would grow on me.
