Did anyone start buying baby stuff before even getting BFP?

We aren’t TTC yet (next year!) but I know my mom is already buying stuff and she doesn’t know anything about our plans to start next year!

Personally, I hate having lots of extra stuff lying around that I’m not using so I won’t be buying anything until I see that positive.

Personally, I think this would only increase my angst. Every time I looked at it, it would just remind me that I hadn’t conceived yet and I would probably feel anxious or depressed. I don’t even think I would want to buy anything like that until after my first trimester…I’d just be so scared of jinxing it. And I def do not believe it would actually have any impact whatsoever on your ability to conceive.

That said, if you think it will make you feel better you should go for it. It’s not harming anyone, and maybe it would bring you some comfort?

I hope you get your BFP soon!

zoey0317 :  we have a spare “future baby room” and that is where I hide all the little things I’ve already bought πŸ™‚ I just couldn’t resist not buying a few sweet things. I already bought the onesie I am going to use to announce our pregnancy…one day… πŸ™‚

ETA: I don’t believe this will jynx anything. I am a very optimistic person by nature and I think it’s okay to be excited about something.

Nope.  I never did, and thank goodness.  In the last 4.5 years and still going of trying, anything I might have bought in the beginning would probably have gone out of style or probably expired by the time I have a baby.  Didn’t start shopping after the BFP either time either, and thank goodness for that cause they ended in m/c and would’ve just been a even crueler reminder.

I’ve went baby crazy online when I had 4 baby showers back to back. And I had originally bought a few onsies for a shower but ended up keeping them because they are so cute!

Other then that I have not bought anything only because we live in a small apartment at the moment. We might start to TTC 2018!!

zoey0317 :  We were traveling through Africa right before we started TTC and I bought a neat painting I could picture in a baby’s room. That’s it. I knew if it took a while to get pregnant or if I had a miscarriage, seeing baby stuff would make me feel even worse. I didn’t really buy anything until the second trimester when we’d heard the heartbeat multiple times and had a good 20 week ultrasound- but that’s just me! Just do what feels right for you. Good luck!

Not even TTC yet but I couldn’t help buying this super cute baby bathrobe I came across at Kohl’s for $8 only!

zoey0317 :  I didn’t because I knew it would only be a reminder that we hadn’t conceived yet. But I also haven’t bought any baby stuff (well, one onesie…) and I’m 20 weeks. I’ve been raking in the hand-me-downs though! We just started looking at cribs seriously and I started researching travel systems the other night purely because my girlfriend harassed me to start a registry because she’s throwing me a shower hahaha

Nope. Just feels wrong and like I’ll jinx something. We are on our 10th cycle active TTC and there is a limited edition diaper bag from a company I absolutely LOVE and my biggest fear is that it’s going to sell out before I need it. It’s pretty expensive, and so I seriously cannot justify the cost when I’m not pregnant.

zoey0317 :  I didn’t because I was so afraid we’d have trouble TTC and lo and behold we did have problems (we actually had MFI and nothing wrong with me which surprised us both).  I had a friend who bought a ton of stuff before getting pregnant, I warned her and she also had significant problems TTC and she really struggled with that and the fact that she had bought so much stuff.
