Did anyone start buying baby stuff before even getting BFP?

Can it work as a positive affirmation? Well I bought a rather stunning collection of pretty baby girl clothes over the years (always ‘knew’ I’d have a girl) and I’m having a boy, so in my case NO!

But I see no harm in it, especially if you are picking up really nice things in the sales. Despite the girl-heavy shopping I did, I found I had 3 pretty, fairly neutral items that I can put my boy in that I bought before I even got married (because I love shopping). If it helps you get excited, that’s good. If I never have a girl I won’t regret my collection because I look at it and the prettiness makes me happy inside (as pathetic as that sounds haha).

One thing I would say though is that if you live somewhere where the weather varies a lot by month, be careful what kind of things you buy. I have the most beautiful little winter fluffy outdoor suit in the world (it’s VERY girly) but even if I’d had a girl it was a huge sale bargain in size 0-3 months and I’m having a June baby so it would have got no wear anyway!

Best of luck with TTC.

I did, but I also started before we were even TTC. It really only started when I was looking for things for friends baby shower gifts, not because i had baby fever or anything. It was more that if I saw a deal (i.e. cute 2$ or 3$ sleepers in odd sizes) I would pick up a couple knowing that I likely would need them eventually. I stashed them away in a box in a closet for when i would need them (or for when i needed a quick baby gift for someone). It took us 1.5 years to TTC once we actually started, and it wasn’t the random onsies in a box in a closet that made the journey hard.

I did and I do.  It helps me stay positive.  It’s only a little thing here and there,  usually clothes.  I figure of it never happens I can give them away.

I personally didn’t, but I see nothing wrong with it either! It just didn’t occur to me to be honest…plus as I am one of the last in my circle to have baby #1, I’ve always been preoccupied with buying stuff for other peoples kids.

A positive affirmation is a cute idea! Maybe a stuffed animal, a cute onesie or a pair of booties?

We were NTNP in the fall with plans to start TTC in Jan. We were lucky enough to see Hamilton for my bday in NYC in September. I bought a teeny little Hamilton onesie from the souvenir shop, but that’s all I have for our baby-to-be.

Also, I sew and making gifts for pregnant friends is my favorite. I’ve definitely bought fabric with an eye to my future baby, but I use it for baby gifts too. I was just thinking that I wished someone would have a baby girl because my boyish fabric stash is getting low but I have a ton of baby girl fabric that I’m dying to use!

We started TTC a few months ago. Bought a cute pair of shoes before we were trying. I loved them and was afraid I wouldn’t find them again when we did eventually have a baby. Haven’t bought anything else, but I was thinking about going ahead and getting stuff to be prepared to announce to Darling Husband when the time comes. And I can’t pass up good deals, so I may would buy something else if I found a great deal!

zoey0317 :Β  Exactly! I figure if the gender/size is wrong I’ll just use them as baby presents!
