Hi, I wondered if there is anyone who survived a long day with ca. 8 inch heels.
I got my wedding dress, but its too long.
i was told only to make the dress shorter would cost me 120Euro (154USD)
So, i wonder if it wouldn’t be better to save that money by getting high heels
as wedding shoes.
My fiance is 6,3feet and I’m 5,25feet tall.
The 8inch heel would still leave a height gap of 3.9inch i think…
i ordered one pair with a high plateau with so the actual height would be 3.9inch.
Does anyone has experience with such high heels on a wedding day?
And what would you generally think if a bride wears such high heels? 😉

Honesty, I think it’s crazy to even consider eight inch heels. My heels were 2 inches and my feet killed me at the end of the night. Shorten the dress!

Do 8 inch heels even exist?!! There is no way I could ever wear heels that tall. I can’t even imagine how painful that would be, plus I would be afraid of falling and spraining my ankle the entire time. My opinion: spring to get the dress made shorter. It’s not worth the pain and potential risk of falling wearing 8 inch heels would bring.

If it’s not something you do on a regular basis, you are going to murder your feet. Also, I would think an 8 inch heel that is reasonably comfortable must be at least $100 so you’re not going to save much. I vote for getting the dress hemmed and be comfortable.

What!!!!!!!!!
Im a huge heel girl but I actually think your a little crazy for thinking about 8 inch heels. I didnt even know they made them. 5.5 inches at the most and my Fiance is 6ft 5 and I am 5ft 2.
I watched my aunty nearly fall over in some unstable 5 inch heels at her wedding. She really couldnt do much and had to be helped everywhere, it wouldve made more sense to get some lower, more stable shoes.

Some perspective. They’re $96 plus shipping.

Besides the fact that 8 inch heels are going to be incredibly uncomfortable, I don’t think you would be able to find a pair that you would actually want to wear with your dress. Shoes that high typically look like this to give you an idea:

I think you should shorten your dress. People will be shocked to see you sooooo much taller than you normally are, and honestly… I highly doubt you can find 8 inch heels that don’t scream ‘stripper’.

@twix: 8 inches?! you’ll break your ankles and look ridiculous.
I’d suck it up and get it hemmed.

If the shoes are $96 plus shipping and it’s only $154 to hem the dress then I say hem the dress. I’m a lover of high heels but even I sttruggle with 6 inches for a whole night out.

Thank you all for the quick feedback!!!! ;D I immediatedly wrote the website to cancel my order. I hope that they will except, or i will just need to return them afterwards.;)
The one i had ordered where below for 88USD. I thought, people don’t see them anyway,
I save the dress shortening costs, as wedding shoes i need to get anyway.
and since because of the plateau the actual gap is no difference to 6inches,
maybe there is no big difference to what the feet will feel.
But I see, it is probably a too crazy idea.
What is the your recommended height? cause not only because of the costs,
but also because of the balance of the design, i actually wish to shorten is as less as possible. 🙂
