I had never heard of escort cards until the Bee. I didn’t bother, just a seating chart & placecards. Did you use them? Are these something new or at least new to Canada? I’ve been to enough weddings over the years and have never seen anyone use them!

I hadn’t heard of them either until I found WB! I dont think they’re very popular in Canada. We just did a seating chart (alpha by last name) and place cards. It worked great.

I did a seating chart because it was more convenient for us. I have been to weddings with escort cards, though. I’ve had your typical little tent card, but my favorite was when our names were written on papers wrapped around chocolate bars!

Yes we’re doing escort cards but no place cards. Every wedding I’ve been to has had escort cards. I’ve never seen seating charts at weddings and didn’t know about them until the Bee.

I have never been to a wedding where they have been used but I am using them.
Almost any time I say to anyone that I’m doing escort cards they look at me like I have three heads and don’t know what I’m talking about.
I hope they figure it out once they get to the reception.

Yeah I’m from Calgary, and when I mentioned it to our venue’s event co-ordinator…. she said that if I’m going to do escort cards, I need to have 2 tables with them, doubling the cards (they normally have 2 seating chart easels – one by the door, one by the bar). Anyone who knows what escort cards are and how they work would realize how ridiculous 2 sets of them would be. So… I think we’re doing the chart. haha.

Virtually no wedding where I come from even bothers with a seating chart. This is partially because our guest lists tend to be astronomical and everyone is more than happy to seat themselves…I think if we did a seating chart or escort cards, our guests would be super confused. But I’ve come to realize that’s probably a regional thing.

Ditto, never been to a wedding with escort cards. Most people do a seating chart but some will do a free for all with some tables reserved for close family.

I’m using escort cards. I’ve never been to a wedding with a ‘chart’. How does that work? People look at what table they’re sitting at on the chart and then just go there? Anyways, we ordered handmade bud vases from etsy. Each bud vase holds the escort card so we’ll have a table set up with all of the vases – each with a single flower in it and the escort card. I think its going to be beautiful with all of the flowers. And then the bud vases serve as a favor (we’re having a few favors lol) and the flowers will look so pretty in front of each person’s place setting.
