paigerino :  I am going non traditional but haven’t decided on my dress yet. Since you mentioned gold sparkly- check out the Adrianna Papell dresses. The ones I’ve tried on felt like quality dresses and had beautiful beading. I was able to get some on amazon with free 2 day shipping/returns with prime.

This one comes in lots of colors and has a small train in the back:

I’m ordering this dress in white, its for bridesmaids actually and cost 100$

I already bought this one but i changed my mind to the one above because my wedding is just civil ceremony no religious ceremony. And i think this one is a bit to puffy

Initially I was looking mostly at blue and red dresses. I fell in love with this one from Rent the Runway, but I rented the size 6 petite which was just a little too tight but the perfect length for me. They had a size 8 regular length dress, but it would have been too long for me unless I wanted to wear 6 inch heels (which I don’t). I decided to see if I could just buy the dress in my size rather than renting it but found out the designer had discontinued that dress. I was super bummed out but decided to look through their dresses and see if that designer had anything else that I liked. I searched “cape” since that was my favorite thing about the red dress, and it turned out that they had a very light purple (looks nearly white) dress with the exact same cape top as the red dress. It is short, but my legs are my favorite body part and I don’t have to worry about getting it hemmed. I couldn’t be happier with how things turned out, and I love how unique my dress is. Pics of both the red dress and my wedding dress.

^^^ I feel like I should add, I am only 5’3″, so the white/purple dress is not nearly as short as it is on the model and comes down nearly to my knees.

I’m probably going to find a non-wedding dress as I’d rather spend that much money on a dress I’ll wear more than once. Or else, the other alternative I’m considering is getting a tight/slim wedding dress that I can trim at the knees afterwards and wear out as a really fancy white dress.

paigerino :  For our civil wedding, I just plan to wear a long, flowy ivory bridesmaid dress.
