I have my first ObGyn appt in a few weeks. I’ll be around 7 weeks (hard to say because this is my first cycle off bcp and my lmp was July 6th but I didn’t get a bfp until aug 31… So guesstimating for sure!
The receptionist said itd be a two hour appt, I’d see a nurse first who would do vitals, create a chart, etc. then see the dr. I think at some point they’ll do an ultrasound too, to check for a heartbeat. I wish dh would go for that part but I completely understand him not wanting to be there for the pelvic exam and the boring vitals.
Im just curios how many appts your dh went to? Dh said he’d probably just go when they do the anatomy scan. Neither of us really know what to expect from dr appts so he may change his mind later.

My ex went to all appointments except the last ones where I was going every week or so (we were together at the time). I don’t think it was even a thought that he wouldn’t go, he was excited to go and it was just assumed.

@apex: So far we have had 3 apointments (we are 12 weeks) and Darling Husband has went to all of them. As long as he is able to go…. meaning he is off from work at the time of appointments, he wants to go to all of them. We are both SUPER excited so I couldn’t keep him away even if I wanted to, lol…. Good luck and congrats!!!!

My husband went to my appointment anytime I had an ultrasound and to the appointment where we first heard the heartbeat (I had four ultrasounds – dating, anatomy scan, one to check on my low lying placenta, and one to check growth). We also moved when I was 38 weeks pregnant so he went to my first appointment at my new doctor too. So overall he went to six. I didn’t see a need for him to be at the other appointments since it was just vitals, heartbeat, and she asked if I had questions.
A positive to him going to the first appointment though, besides the ultrasound, was all the information. Neither of us really had questions because it was so new but in the exam room, before the pelvic exam, she went over a ton of information on different tests and anything we needed to know. They also took blood at my appointment and I’m terrified of needles so him being there helped me with that.

He went to the first with me. They went over a little bit of his medical background/history. After that, he goes if he can, but most of the time, they’re just checkups.

Darling Husband has come to both ultrasounds with me, but hasn’t come to the routine checkups.

We have our first u/s next week and the hubs will be there…I am fortunate that my OB/GYN has office hours until 7pm and we can fit later appts into our schedule (my DH’s job is a 1 hour commute on the metrorail).
He did not go with me for the first rounds of bloodwork to confirm my pregnancy and to check on my HCG doubling, but he will be there with me until our Edamame is here!!

Darling Husband has come to all of my appts except for one when he had an important work meeting. The first appt is important, you get a lot of information and hearing the heart beat for the first time or seeing the u/s the first time is a definite not miss in my books. It was amazing and my Darling Husband said he *almost* teared up when he heard the heartbeat for the first time!
I don’t see it taking two hours (but I guess that is what they told you). My first appt was maybe 1/2 hour to 45 mins and we did a pelvic exam. We did the u/s at another place, though.
The other appts take like 10 mins so really Darling Husband doesn’t need to come, but we usually have a list of questions for the doctor each time so we both go as it is conveniently located and we just go during lunch hours.

Darling Husband hasn’t gone to any of my appointments yet (I’m 9w2d and have had 2 doctor’s appointments so far). I won’t get an ultrasound until about 12 weeks and he will come to that appointment, and probably the anatomy scan, but I don’t anticipate him coming to any others.

My Darling Husband has come to all of my appointments with me (I am 24 weeks). He went to most of them with Dirty Delete #2 too. He didn’t go with me when I found out I was having a miscarriage and I think he worries I will get bad news and I will be alone again.

Darling Husband has come to every appointment but he is also self employed. It is difficult for me to take time off for all of my appointments, I certainly wouldn’t expect Darling Husband to come especially if he was employed by someone else. The appointments that I think are the most important that your Darling Husband may not want to miss is the 1st ultrasound, if you are having the 12 week NT scan, and gender scan. I think these are milestones that he would like to be involved in.

I feel like a broken record on here, but my husband went to my very first one at 4weeks (long story) and then deployed shortly after that. He’ll hopefully be back around 36 weeks. I just use my iPhone and record parts of the appointments for him.

Darling Husband came with me to the first appointment and heard our baby’s heartbeat. It’s hard for him to come for all the other checkups since he works as well during the day and my appointment times varies and they usually last for only about 15-20 minutes. He’s been to most of the ultrasounds except one. I’m almost 35 weeks now and go for a check up every 2 weeks. Once we hit 36 weeks and I’ll have to go in every week he’ll most likely come to every appointment then leading up to delivery day.

Darling Husband came with me to both ultrasounds so far, and today he’s coming to the midwife with me because we get to hear the heartbeat, and he also wants to meet our midwife. Routine check ups he hasn’t come to.
