Did the fact that you did a destiantion change you from doing a Saturday ceremony?
I”m thinking that since it wont’ matter becuase of work, that I might do a Thursday or Friday ceremony instead… thoughts?

Definitely! I looked at it as an advantage that we could pick any day of the week. We’re doing ours on a Thursday so that we’ll be there for the required amount of time to get legally married (in Mexico). I like the idea of having several days before the wedding AND after the wedding to spend with guests. If we’d chosen the Saturday we’d all be leaving the next day and it’d be a let down.
Yeah, we probably would have had to do a Friday night or Saturday if we’d done a wedding at home. Our wedding is on a Thursday since it’s a destination for everyone but my partner.
Yep, the only destination wedding I ever attended was on a Friday. Many vacation packages run Sat-Sat, so the guests hung out the week before, went to the wedding on Friday and Saturday morning the bride/groom moved on to their honeymoon and we went home.
Yes, we are doing a Friday night wedding. The condos in the area we are getting married at are Sunday-Sunday so we picked Friday night so people wouldn’t have to wake up the day after the wedding to leave. We are excited to spend our last day of “vacation” as Mr & Mrs with our friends. Looking back, a Thursday night wedding would have been an option as well – and would have been cheaper! LOL
I would’ve looked at doing a different day but it didn’t matter at all regarding price so I just picked a Saturday. With som hotels and vendos, it jus doesn’t matter what day of the week.
My brother got married on a Tuesday on a Destination Wedding because it was so much cheaper but more importantly, they loved the actual date of that Tuesday.
@W292737: We are having our wedding on a Friday there. Because you are on vacation it doesnt matter what day you choose. We chose the Friday becaue we get there on Tuesday and wanted a few days to relax before the wedding.
yes it definitely did! with the planner I used, weekends were $200 extra and because it was a beach wedding, she recommended a weekday so it wouldn’t be as crowded.
We had our Destination Wedding on a Thursday there b/c it was a Destination Wedding it really didn’t matter most people came in to spend a week anyway so they were already out of work. It was better to have it during the week for us!
im having wedding in cancun, and a lot of people are coming in from domestic flights or short distance international flights so they will fly in for a long weekend… fri-monday, or thurs-sunday. very few people are coming for an entire week, so it would mean that having the ceremony on a different day would make people less likely to come
Definitely. We are doing a Friday evening wedding so people can enjoy the weekend in Grand Cayman. Works out nicely.
Ours is on a Monday. 95% of the guest list is flying in and since it’s in Scotland, everyone would have to take some time off. I figured people could fly over after work on Friday, arrive Saturday morning and have two days to acclimate to the new time zone. Wedding Monday, leave Tuesday if they need to – only missing two days of work.
Most of our people are coming for at least a week though – making a full vacation out of it.
Yep… we got married on a Wednesday. It was AWESOME! Everything we booked was either much cheaper and/or way less busy and we got a high-end photog for about $1500 when his usual package is $7000.
Our Destination Wedding is on a Wednesday. Fiance is off Mondays/Tuesdays, so we’ll be flying out Sunday night after he gets out of work. I wanted at least a day or two on the island (Aruba) before the actual ceremony. When I started looking, Fridays/Saturdays were a few hundred more than when compared to weekdays. I think I also read (maybe with just the company/planner I’m going with) they don’t perform Sunday weddings.
If we had a local wedding, it would of course be on a Saturday.
Oh yes. We chose a Monday because we, and most of our guests, are arriving Saturday and that was the perfect amount of time we wanted to be there before the wedding.
