@candy11: No. Because we were just sitting on the couch planning our trip to Mexico and he says “you want to get married when we are there?”
Though we ended up not getting married while in Mexico, but instead eloped a month later in July. And I got my ring the month prior in June.

My friend’s Fiance didnt have his ring the first (two) times he propsed to her. He proposed to her officially (the second time) and they found her ring together. My Fiance had the ring with him, although we picked it out together, he refused to propose until he had it in hand and had a surprise proposal planned, everyone’s love story is different 😀

He ordered a ring, but it wasn’t going to come in time for our vacation and asked me if I wanted a proposal before it arrived. I said I’d rather just wait, since the ring was already all picked out I’d rather have it on my finger when I told everyone we were engaged. Plus I wanted the scene to be a bit more “classic” with him having a ring on hand. But the fact that we discussed the engagement a lot before he proposed probably makes it a bit less “classic” lol.

@womanofsubstance: I like to think so, anyway! I’m the lucky one, and I’m just happy to be married to love of my life. I don’t need a fancy ring (Engagement or otherwise) to validate that. 🙂

Yup! He didn’t consider it “real” otherwise.

@candy11: Sure thing.
.46 caret near colorless (G) diamond (brilliant cut) set in white gold. I have size 4.5 fingers.
My husband hates it because it is simple. He doesn’t like “flashy” or “blingy”, so to speak, but he likes rings with character and pizzaz, if that makes sense. I would show you the wedding band and engagement ring we wanted, but Blue Nile no longer sells them (which makes things worse for my husband and his feelings. It broke my heart.) but it was a similar band, except molded to have hearts going down each side (white gold, no extra diamonds) with my diamond in the middle.
I’m not a fan of diamonds, nor is he. But I love my little diamond, and I like my little plain band.
I wish he did, but I completely understand why he doesn’t. If he ever insists on getting me a new ring, I won’t complain because while it is my ring, it’s a symbol of his love, and I want him to love what I’m wearing just as much as I do.

He did, but he had the ring since November and proposed the following June….he better not have forgotten the ring which he had for over 7 months hidden in our apartment 🙂

My Darling Husband proposed with a plastic bead ring. He had won it for me at an arcade on our 5th date and I had kept it all those years in my jewelry box. His plan was to propose on a trip to Mexico but the custom ring he was having made got delayed. He didn’t want to miss the opportunity to propose on vacation so he saw the plastic ring in my jewelry box and thought it was perfect. I LOVED this! I could not have been any happier and wore that plastic ring for another 2 weeks, (even at work). I then carried it on my bouquet down the aisle.

He had the ring when he proposed. We’d talked about it for about 4 months off and on, so I knew it was coming. However, I didn’t think he had even gone to look at rings, let alone bought a set and had it in his house for a week before he proposed!

He proposed with a kitten. I always told him that if he were to propose to do it with a cat because I don’t care for jewelry.
I also got a gold ring. I just need to figure out how to sell it.

Nope, but we ordered it that night!

@Roxykitten: Love it! Your expression is pricesless!

He did propose with a ring, but almost didn’t.
He had been planning on proposing on Christmas for a while, because he wanted to be able to announce it to both of our families in person on the same day. And he came very close to not deciding on a ring on time, which would have been A-Okay with me.
