Yup, he did!

Yes! We had been talking about getting engaged for a long time, and once I had said “umm..just to be clear, you ARE getting down on one knee.” he laughed, and part of me wondered if he would now NOT get on one knee just to be a pain in the butt, but he did. I wasn’t expecting it, so I was laying down in bed and then all of a sudden, he was kneeling on the floor 😉
Yes, he was on his knees for like 10 minutes on the beach reading a poem to me that he wrote about our future together. Then, he started to tear up and I knew this was a proposal for sure haha!! He slipped his hand in his dress pants and I saw something sparkle* from the corner of my eye.
He did, I didn’t expect it to happen so soon. He doesn’t do much sweet talk, but it’s sweet of him to be traditional when he proposed.
Nice to know someone else is out there with a text message proposal!
In the past, we had both sworn we would never get married again. We had said that to eachother before we dated when we were just friends. Well, obviously things changed. Around the time we got engaged, I had been thinking I was a little disappointed that I had wasted time and marriage on an ex. I quickly pushed those thoughts out, because I didn’t want to dwell on the past. Besides, he didn’t want to get married anyway. Or so I thought. A few days later, he was sending me sweet texts while I was at work. He was saying things about how different it was with me and he would even make that “mistake” with me. I knew exactly what he was talking about, but I asked what mistake? He replied with “oh I was just joking about marriage”. I knew him well enough to know he did not joke about getting married. A couple of weeks went by and one night I was at my son’s basketball game alone. The game was very emotional, because one of the boys who had played on the team had died the month before. He had been hit by a car. I sat there, realizing at that moment that life was too short. I wanted to share every single aspect about my life and to have a family with him. For the first time in my life I pictured growing old with someone. That was something that hadn’t ever crossed my mind in previous relationships. I figured I didn’t need to wait for him to ask, our relationship and our life together was already a bit nontraditional anyway. That night, we went outside and sat under the stars. I said all of the things I said here and more (plus I added a little bit of sarcasm, because that’s what he expects from me), then I asked him to marry me. He smiled and said yes. Right after, he was all giddy saying stuff like “I just got engaged!” It was sweet.
To answer the OP’s question, he did not get down on one knee. I did not either. 🙂
Yes! And it was at the beach at sunset too! Sunsets are a big thing with us because we were on vacation in clearwater beach, fl and everynight we couldn’t miss the beautiful gulf sunset! We almost missed it one night (we usually walked to the beach to watch it) so he did it on the rooftop!
He was on two knees, by our bed, waking me up on a sunday morning in a tux. It was the perfect proposal for me.
He got down on one knee… in razor sharp gravel! lol He wasn’t entirely aware of his surroundings (I think he thought he was on grass since we were in a park) but when he knelt down I saw him wince in pain. He wasn’t down there long, just long enough to pop the question. He did the rest of his spiel standing up. When he stood back up he had the pleasure of picking the gravel out of his knee! lol
I voted other because he asked me to marry him standing face to face and then I said yes and we started laughing and kissing and I said, “You’re not even going to get down on one knee?” So then he started laughing and got down one knee and asked me again. Though he hid the ring in the proposal so he didn’t give that to me in the moment when he asked.
