For a little backstory, about a year ago, my SO accidently let it slip that his grandmother had offered him her mother’s engagement ring to propose with. Although I do generally prefer more modern styles, the idea of a ring with so much history and sentiment means more to me than any new ring.
Anyway, on Saturday when I came home from work, I noticed we had 2 bags with new clothes in it. When I asked about it, he said his grandma had bought us “a few things” in Florida. Although she usually tries to visit when we’re both home, this is not unusual, since she’s always buying someone something, so I thought nothing of it. Then, on Sunday, we were looking at the JVL site, since I had seen this thread about free promo codes http://boards.weddingbee.com/topic/free-wedding-bands-from-jvl#axzz2SXAH0g8c and I decided to get one as a promise ring for SO (not a wedding band, as he wants more traditional metals for that). When I mentioned the smallest size was an 8 (he has very slender fingers) and was worried it would be too big, he said “Don’t worry, if it’s too big, I’ll bring it when I get yours resized.”
Now, I may be reading too much into this, but I couldn’t help but think that his grandmother dropped off more than clothes when she came over on Saturday. I didn’t want to prod further, because I didn’t expect to get straight answers out of him if I did. But now I can’t help but think that this ring is somewhere in our apartment.
