Just because it’s how it’s traditionally done, it’s how I always imagined it would be done.  So I was hoping that he’d do it that way, and he did!

My guy proposed on Christmas Day, the first white Christmas in my lifetime. He woke me up early by crawling in bed with me and proposed as we were laying there. It was so sweet! He told me later he was going to drag me out into the snow and propose, but I’m glad he didn’t because I would have been a fiancee-cicle by the time he was done!

Mine had left a trail of rose petals and was waiting in my candlelit bedroom (my family had gotten me out of the house) on his knee with our song playing and . I basically turned around and walked out for a second because I was in shock. I absolutely love how he did it!!

he proposed on one knee…but he was on crutches at the time because of an injury sustained during military training, so he kind of had to fall down to get there. It was very sweet, and I’m so glad that his Brother-In-Law was filming out of the window so that I have it on tape!

I chose, he didn’t and I’m glad because it’s more our style! We were in Kyoto, Japan when he proposed. We were totally jet lagged and had been awake and roaming the quiet streets of Kyoto for 5 hours before he finally felt the right moment. We were walking along his favorite path – the path of philosophy (which is so suitable since he’s a professor and I am getting my PhD soon) along a babbling creek under amazing lush cherry blossoms. We found a bench near the creek and we sat side-by -side, taking all the beauty in from the same perspective… then he looked at me and asked me to marry him. Now, I didnt’ react suprised or excited until he actually pulled out the little black Tiffany box… mostly because we’ve talked about marriage before, so I had no idea it was an actual proposal! Anyway, we’re more about blazing our own trail… hence no bended knee… which is definitely just right 🙂

Yep, he did. And I was so touched by it. It’s not his style at all but I’m a sucker for that kind of old fashioned romance and he put aside how he felt about it because he knew that it would totally melt my heart.

My Fi did and it was so amazing I started crying as soon as he dropped to one knee.

When he first proposed it was not on one knee and without a ring – the perfect moment just popped up unexpectedly – we went on a camping holiday in Cornwall for our 4 yr anniversary and we were watching the sun set over the sea when he asked me (sounds very cliché but it was really romantic!)

Then, when we got home from our holiday we went ring shopping and picked one out together, so the day he picked it up from the shop, (he had told me it wasn’t going to be ready for another 6 weeks) he cooked me dinner and then proposed again on one knee, with the ring, in the living room. It was a lovely surprise and completely unexpected!

My Fiance did not get on one knee, I always thought he would and I wanted him too. I don’t really feel like I missed anything though so it’s fine that he didn’t…it was still special.
