We bought it together…  It took about 3-4 weeks from the time we bought it until we could pick it up.

Nope! He proposed on NYD of this year, and he ended up buying my christmas present and my engagement ring at the same time. I had NO idea.

We had looked at rings together months before.  So I kind of forgot all about it but he had purchased a ring and had it hidden at my house and I didn’t even know it. lol. So when he proposed I was totally shocked. He proposed on the way to my families house for Thanksgiving dinner.

Kinda sorta. He bought it and then proposed like six hours later so I guess in a way?

He got the ring in early February and didn’t propose until May! So he managed to keep it hidden from me in our tiny apartment for 3 months. I was impressed.

We bought it together. It only took an hour to get the diamond set into the setting. Still waiting for the proposal and I’m not allowed to look at the ring till then… he’s really testing me here, cos I know where he hid it but I can’t take a peep!! Such a torture!

I know he has my Grandma’s ring (we’re reusing her diamond), and I gave him a list of bands to choose from. I don’t know when he’s buying the band (if he hasn’t already), when the stone will be fitted/ready, or anything else about the proposal itself besides my guesswork.

We picked it out together, but didn’t buy it that day. He went back and bought it about 5 months later, and then proposed about a month after that. To a waiting bee, I’m sure that sounds like torture, but I had also said I didn’t want to be proposed to during the holidays/near the family birthdays that came after it, so I knew it would at least be a few months haha.

I don’t think my story leading up to engagement was the norm.  FI was VERY transparent with his plans.  I was present when he called Blue Nile to make arrangements to purchase my setting and he contacted me via text when he was in the NYC diamond district to pick out my diamond.  I suppose some people would be very disappointment without the element of surprise but I was okay with this. Our decision to get engaged was one we made jointly and we took the steps necessary together to get there.

Fiance had the ring in hand in December 2015 and did not propose until May 2016.

He proposed without a ring. We then went to Charming Charlie’s and bought a $3 band for me to wear. We had a quick engagement, exchanged wedding bands during our ceremony. Then about 3 months after the wedding we had my dream ring custom made. I’m just fine with the way it happened. I just wanted to be married to my sweet man!

I went to pick it out then he tried to send me out of the store to buy it. When he came out he said he had to do more research and wasn’t sure what he wanted to do anymore. Which lead to a fight because I thought he was stalling and dragging me along.

The next day he told me he bought the ring. He wanted to surprise me.

When the ring came in, he was stupid and left proof that he had gone to the mall sitting on the kitchen counter. He never goes to the mall alone. So I knew it was in the house.

Nope, I had no clue! DH only told one friend, a guy who is like a second dad to him who referred him to their family jewler. About 3 weeks before the proposal, when the setting was done but needed to be sized he did tell my BFF to enlist the help of her to get my ring size.

The day of the proposal he took my dad to lunch, and then called him mom.

We looked at rings together last summer and I made a Pinterest page of rings I liked.  I didn’t know when he ordered the ring and that it took around 6 weeks to come in.  He proposed a couple of days after he got the ring (that weekend).

He surprised me, because I knew the general timeline of when he bought the ring, and had an idea for when he would propose, but then he was upset and making comments that made it obvious the ring would not come in on time. So, I thought the proposal would be delayed. Well, he surprised me and proposed with a stand in ring, so as not to miss the moment. I’m so thankful for that! My ring took over a month, more like 6 weeks. After he proposed, I still waited another week to get my ring in.
