If I can give you any advice it would be to talk to each other.. My sister and I spent many years arguing over the most idiotic things, I wish we had that time back. How old is she? Is she your younger or older sister?

Probably, the reason she’s angry with you is that you’re judging her life and telling her that her choices are wrong. If I were her, I’d be pissed off, too. You should not judge the actions of another based on YOUR values–try walking a mile in her shoes first, as the saying goes. That her boyfriend isn’t talking to your parents is a little troubling, but it doesn’t mean that their relationship is bad or that she is “screwing up her life.”

@kt131:

I’m sure you want the best for your sis, but the thing is that most people need to learn on their own through their own mistakes.

People can be very defensive when it comes to their relationships and decisions.  It’s her life.  You should try to fix your relationship, since you’ll prob regret not having her there for you in a few years.  Be the bigger person and appologize for trying to change her.  Tell her you respect her and will be there for her no matter what and don’t interfere with her life unless she is being hurt physically or mentally, but leaving school isn’t the end of the world.

I’m sure you wouldn’t want someone telling you you screwed up your life either.

@Mrs Grape: Obviously you don’t have a sister. The relationship between sisters is very special and unique. You can tell her that ass looks fat in those jeans, but she’ll still love you. Looking out for someone you love deeply is not “judging her life”. The boyfriend sounds like a loser.

OP – seriously, get drunk together and cry – kiss and make up –  but don’t make her miss that special role in your wedding!

@kt131: Her age might have something to do with it. I would go to my parents at this point. The loser boyfriend plans on proposing and yet has never spoken to your parents AND they are 20? Wait, could the boyfriend be the root of the problem? I hope he’s not a dope head or something?

And you were right for telling her she’s screwing up her life. If that’s the whole story, then you were right. 🙂

@kt131: Well, I added this above:

And you were right for telling her she’s screwing up her life. If that’s the whole story, then you were right. 🙂

Do your parents know what’s going on???

@kt131: I have been in your shoes…ughhh believe me…read some of my posts….my sister is sthe same way. She is quick to tell you how to run your life, or “help out” but she does NOT LIKE hearing it. After all though, what are sisters for. She was supposed to be in my wedding party and she quit…TWICE, over very silly things and petty arguments. The second time she came back and said “if you havent replaced me i would like to be your Bridesmaid or Best Man but  i want you to know its not for you its for mom and dad though” I tearfully declined her offer and cried my eyes out for days. That being said…

I wish i kept her in the party. Sisters fight and do stuff all the time. I never ever really get along with her..but i look at my wedding pics now and i just feel like something is missing and it makes me so mad. Every situation is different though so this is simply “if it were me” advice”.  Who knows what my sister would have done if she had stayed in the party though….
