I would complain now.  She should have had insurance on it and there is a time limit on those claims I believe.

After a month it should be there. Does she have a tracking number? I would definitely inform her that the package has not arrived.

She cashed your check and you don’t have a product. I would complain now. I would also be wary that she wanted a check and not PayPal or some other sort of secure online payment.

I would complain and demand return of payment. Even if she means well, she just can’t get your purchase to you, and I don’t think she’s going to. Give up on this one and make all your purchases elsewhere.

There are lots of cute penguin things on Etsy, which uses a secure payment system. I’d look there.
