You were absolutely right. Especially because you are so thin, its better to err on the side of big. If the dress was too small you’d be kind of SOL because you probably can’t lose more. If it is big, no prob you can just take it in.

@rycrafty: i think you will be totally fine. i wouldn’t worry. you had your reasons in the moment for ordering (based on size chart, the sample you tried on, and your own measurements!), so there was a reason you chose that size.

There is no way you could lose weight to fit into the smaller dress.  Just think if it was squeezing your ribs in all night.  You need alterations anyways.

It’s always better for the dress to be too big than too small. You’ll need to get alterations done before the wedding anyway to make sure it fits your figure and the seamstress can take it in at that time with no problem.

Nope, you’re absolutely right.  It’s always easier to take in than let out.

Haha i had a similar interesting thing happen but it works in my favor.  I had on a sample size 2 in my dress, and it was slightly big.  So I ordered a 2.  Well, an unworn 2 is MUCH tighter than the sample!  But it’s just perfect enough to not need to be taken in on the sides… just a little at the hip and a hem.  But now I’m saving money on alterations!   At first I freaked out a little though thinking it was too tight (harder to alter) but I think it’s probably as tight as they would’ve made it in alterations because it’s strapless.

You’ll be fine!!!  You’re mom is probably just freaked at making such a big purchase and is stressed for you about it.
