I’ve been a long time lurker and made an account a few weeks ago, but this is my first official post. Originally I had bought a dress from China for $81 Canadian. (Dress on the left). I thought it was a beautiful dress when it came in and had very few flaws. When I tried it on for a friend she instantly wasn’t sold on it. I have three kids, one being 9 months old so I wanted to hide that “flab” as much as possible. She found it didn’t totally flatter me. So my mom eventually took me shopping a consignment store and we found the dress on the right. I loved it right away, fast forward a couple weeks and I again started having regret and wondering if I made the right decision.
I had never actually seen myself in the first dress, just went with everyone’s opinion. So a couple days ago I tried on the first dress again and had my 7 year old snap a few photos. After seeing them I realized why I had chosen that dress. This morning I tried the first on again, daughter snapped some photos and I made a collage with them. Both my daughter and four year old son like my newest dress (on the right) best and seeing them side by side I do too.
So hive I guess what I’m asking is, does the newest dress flatter me more?

I think the one on the right flatters you more. I like the dress on the left but the way it gathers in the middle right at your waist makes you look bigger. And since the sparkles are there, that’s where your eye is immediately drawn to. So I’d say the right one for sure.

I also think the dress on the right is more flattering to your figure. I think it has to do with the draping – somehow it elongates your torso and accentuates the smallest part of your waist. The dress on the left, while pretty, cuts you off at the waist, and the way the fabric bunches adds bulk that isn’t really there.
Ultimately, of course, that’s just one opinion – the one that really matters is yours!

I think you made the right choice 🙂

Dress on the right looks great!

Thanks Everyone! I’m starting to feel a lot better about my choice. I know it’s not about what I wear but that I’m marrying my best friend after 9 years, and three kids together, but we all know that the dress really does matter.

They both look great on you, but your new one definitely takes the cake. It does show off your figure more and gives you that hourglass shape. You do have 2 dresses, so you can always have one for the wedding and one for the reception. 😉 Don’t stress so much, you’ll look gorgeous no matter what you decide.

both dresses look really good, they are practically the same dress other then the position the fabric is gathered… I like the original gown on the left… It hides the underbelly button problem area( don’t worry I have that too, I find a lot of women do) I just feel the fabric having more depth in the middle masks it

well the dress on the right definitely needs to be pressed and maybe taken in a little bit, but it elongates your torso and gives you more of a shape. i like the one on the right better.

They’re both beautiful, but the one on the right is much more flattering. Looks great on you — good choice. And your kids have good taste too. 🙂

They’re both really pretty! I feel like I like the left one more, but I’m not sure because I really, really like the right one.

They are both beautiful. I like the one on the left more. I think the draping is more flattering than the one on the right.

I like them both on you! I think the left one is a little bit more flattering than the one on the right, but it’s nothing some good shapewear can’t take care of.

Both look great but I think the central gathering of dress one hides more of your tummy than the side gathering does.

Agreed, this one is much more flattering to the tummy.
