i think every designer is different. wear a 2-4 in regular clothes and my dress is a size 8. slightly big but the next size down wouldve been too small

I’ve heard on here a lot about the different sizes for wedding dresses but after taking my measurements my consultant ordered the same size I usually wear too. I wouldn’t worry about it since they took your measurements. They should know. It’s not like you ordered online yourself or something.

It just depends on the brand and how the dress is made.  I’m a street size 18 and they ordered me an 18.  I could zip up a 16 too actually but it was a bit tight so they ordered up and I’m having it taken in about an inch for a perfect fit.  I was expecting to fit in a 22 or something along those lines so I was very surprised!  But I just had my first fitting yesterday and the 18 was the perfect choice!

I don’t believe that all wedding dresses are smaller made than normal clothes. I usually wear a 4-6 and when they measured me for my dress I was a 2 in every measurement apart from hips (damn my pear shape) and they convinced me to go with the 4 and size down but I thought the 2 would have been fine as Ive been going to the gym 5 times a week for 6 months now ans knew I would lose a bit from my hips anyway. In the end, now that the dress has came in, I totally could have gotten the 2, so I’m a bit miffed I didnt put my foot down earlier ๐Ÿ™ It will be fine but I could have saved myself alot of alteration $$$

@bella731:  There is always about an inch extra on the dresses though incase they have to let it out ๐Ÿ˜‰

Which is exactly what I should have said to them and forced them to order the 2 haha

I went size 6… Then lost 10 more lbs and now I regret not getting the 4!

@bella731:  i’m pretty sure it is. they had a book with size charts for diff designers & that’s how they decided what to order for mine

eta: also, my fiance’s sister ordered hers and they ordered her regular size. she said the dress is a little big in the boobs and butt (lol she said this wasn’t surprising to her) but otherwise was good.

@bella731:  Depending on the designer it sound ok.  For me personally, I can fit in a 0-2 size pants, sometimes a 4 depending what brand and my dress was ordered in a size 4.  It looks great on you by the way!

@bella731:  alterations can always be done if something needs adjusted.  when my dress came in I was so excited, I went to try it on right away!!  mine fits pretty good, will need it taken in a few places.  Cant wait for the fittings and alterations so it will be even more perfect!

My wedding dress is the same size as my dress and pant size!
