I picked my ring, the proposal itself was still a surprise! And you’ll be ecstatic when it happens, even if you see it coming a mile away. Anticipating something and having it actually happen are SO different (in the best way possible!).

first let me say I live in West Africa and my Fiance is from here. All he knows about engagement rings and proposals is from the tv.
I’d given him some inspiration pictures but didn’t know exactly what he’d picked. I thought he’d order and get it sent down and it would all be a surprise. But we wanted to be engaged by mid June as then we’d both be travelling and we knew we wanted to get married this dec and not be engaged for less than 6 months…
So he ordered the ring once his money finally came through late may. But then he had to find someone travelling from the capital to the town we live in. Which turned out to be a colleague of mine. I saw her when we were all in my FI’s village and she didn’t know if/when she’d see him so she told me she had a package for him; should she give it to him or keep it til she saw him.
I told her just to give it to me as I already knew she had it. Took it home to FI”s uncle’s house where we were staying and gave it to Fiance (still in packaging).
He went off and came back 5 mins later. Knelt done and put ring on my finger. I said “are you not going to ask me something?” He thought for a bit then said “Do you love me?” I said yes. I said, “are you not going to ask me something else?” He thought some more and eventually asked “do you want to marry me?” I said,”that’s the right question. And yes.”

we designed the ring together, I picked the diamond size and everything. I also told him to not show me it when we received it. I was still excited when he proposed

It may be a little different for me, but I got engaged months ago and have spent the time since then trying to find the perfect ring. I think it’s pretty normal to be involved in selecting the ring at this point since you are the one who has to wear it every day.

I showed my DH the ring I wanted. I also wanted the proposal to be a surprise. And it totally was. I even knew he had the ring but was still so caught off guard when he actually proposed.

Has he proposed yet? do you think it was ruined?
I just helped my partner pick my ring and still waiting for him to propose. I have this worry too.
