Did I spend a ridiculous amount of money on my wedding ring?

I think what’s reasonable is buying a ring you love that’s within your budget. Sounds like you did that. Now enjoy it, and stop worrying about the cost!

I don’t think that’s a lot; especially if it’s something you love and will hopefully wear everyday and forever.

If you can afford it, it’s not too much.

When I saw “ridiculous” I was expecting like $20k. I think $2900 is pretty reasonable as long as you can afford it.

If you can afford it and its what you want then its reasonable. Even if someone else would never spend that amount on a ring, I’m sure they spend money on things you wouldn’t.

I spent less, but I don’t think 2900 is ridiculous at all. I just wanted a plain platinum band ($700), so that’s what I got. I would have expected to spend a lot more for something more intricate, a designer brand, or a design with diamonds/gemstones. You’ll find people here who spent under $50 and people who spent upwards of 10k, so it’s all relative.

For platinum and diamonds not necessarily? It could depend on how many diamonds, carat, clarity, and colour and how high end the store where it was purchased was. My husband spent a little under 1200 for mine and it is platinum but mine are black diamonds and smaller so of course it cost less. I think the important thing is that he didn’t spend more than he could afford. as long as that is true I think it doesn’t matter how much 🙂 Sounds like a nice ring to me 🙂

Not too much at all if it doesn’t put you into a financial hole!  I have 2 wedding bands because I wanted a stack of rings. Both of my bands are platinum and diamonds and they were definitely not inexpensive. I say do you boo!

Does it matter what other people do? My husband and I are both relaticely well off. We are lucky enough to be able to spend on things that are important to us and have family support as well (our wedding probably cost 80,000 in the end for example). And my engagement ring cost……$56. It was what was right for us. I’m not into expensive jewelry and I see diamonds as a fake advertising scheme. But it doesn’t matter what other people do—-it matters what YOU and your spouse are comfortable doing.

$2900 isn’t high at all, as long as you can afford it.

We spent $150 on my wedding band, but all I wanted was a plain gold band. If $2,900 was in the budget and it was my dream band, I would have spent it. It’s not too much as long as you can afford it.
