After telling my older sister what song me and my FI are going to dance to, her reaction (word for word via text): “That’s a depressing song. Is this going to be an emo wedding? Because if so I may have accidentally forgot I already had plans.”
And then “Jk”
And then “Can you help (brother in law) with his candy crush request?”
I have no words.

Aren’t sisters just fab. Mines puts ‘lol’ on every rude email she sends to me, as if that makes it not rude. I told her so the other week and she hasn’t spoken to me since. Bliss 🙂
What is your song? I’m sure it’s lovely.

Sisters… LOl.. I have 2 and it feels like I have 4! They are the same way but I dont take it personal. Mine might actually be worse. Its ok because im sure at the end of the day she will LOVE what ever you have chosen because shes your sister. =)
Just act like it didnt bother you. Thats what I do and mine hate when I do that LOL.

@Lollybags: Thirty-Three by Smashing Pumpkins. Yeah I have a feeling that if I ever talked back to her, she’d probably stop talking to me. Now I’m just in a shitty mood. :

@ItalianBride11: Eh.. I’m tired of acting like things she says doesn’t bother me 🙁

@LadyMoriarty: Oh the joy of sisters. When I announced my engagement to my sister (I’m 23 she is 33) her first reaction was to say “What promted that..I thought you’d be sensible and wait”.
I love the smashing pumpkins and think that is a great song choice for whatever it is worth.

Sounds exactly how my sister and I are with each other. I guess if it’s not mutal teasing, then it sucks, but I personally would have laughed it off, b/c I know our humor. If y’all don’t have that type of realtionship, I guess I can see how this would bother you.

Huge Pumpkins fan here, as evidenced by my username. I would like “Ava Adore” to be our first song, but it’s a bit dark for my family to handle. I think we shall go with “Stand Inside Your Love”.
As for your sister, I’m sure she was only teasing, tactless though it was. I am similarly opinionated, sarcastic, and what I like to call “obliviously insensitive”. My sister has had to endure many of my impulsive foot-in-mouth comments, and I swear to you I never meant any of them to be taken seriously.

I wouldn’t sweat it so much. At least you and your sister can speak to each other like that and give real opinions. Some of my distant cousins have the oddest relationships with their siblings where its like they are talking to strangers… They are overly polite and overly PC with lots of nodding and smiling. Weird to say the least.
I’d tell your sister how you feel. She might not realize that she hurt your feelings. I am sometimes super blunt like that with my sister and I don’t mean to hurt her feelings but I have before. I feel like an ass when I realize that I was being an ass without intending to. The best thing to do is be honest with her and give her a chance to change her ways.

Perhaps, she truly was just kidding? My sister and I tease each other like that all the time.
But if it bothers you, I’d just tell her that you love her, but sometimes when she says stuff like that it hurts your feelings.

No, it’s not an emo wedding. The Smashing Pumpkins are grunge. It’s a grunge wedding. Wear a flannel shirt!
Then she shows up in a plaid flannel shirt and looks stupid at your wedding.
