@musician32992:  Both of those rings are beautiful!  You’re going to be the one wearing it so i’d say get the one you want 🙂

@linnylou_88:  I’ve almost the same ring which is my wedding ring and i’m also from the uk.  Oddly, not one person has commented on the diamonds in it, in fact, even my auntie who isn’t known for her tact just said that it was beautiful and very unusual.

My engagement ring is a halo with a yellow/peach diamond (for the benefit of any us bees – most e-rings over here are solitares) though so I don’t think that anyone was really expecting me to have a ‘normal’ wedding ring! It probably also helps that i’ve done nothing the traditional way, since we’ve been together for almost 10 years and have a house and 2 kids…also i’m in my early 30’s and i’ve found that i’ve been questionned on my choices less over the last few years….

I have just bought a stainless steel plain band from ebay for £10 for our honeymoon/family holiday. I won’t be taking my e-ring and my wedding band is a little big to be worn alone, also, i’m a bit worried about loosing my wedding ring since the diamonds would mean i’d have to keep taking it off to suncream myself and the kids….I was going to buy an engraved wedding band but have decided to keep that option open for an anniversary some time in the future!

I’m in the process of getting my e-ring made. I have kind of odd taste, and originally I wanted something REALLY small and a little strange-looking (hand-forged, misshapen assymmetrical hammered metal, tiny rough diamond)– but whenever I shared pictures of the kind of ring I wanted with friends and family, they did not care for the design. They weren’t rude at all, but they clearly did not have positive opinions about the design, and my mom asked me “Don’t you want something a little more…valuable?” ie. she thought the diamond would be too small. I’d like to say their opinions don’t matter to me, because I know they shouldn’t, but they do, I can’t help it!

Instead, I’ve decided to get a slightly more ‘normal’ looking ring, but it still will have elements I love (rough diamond with micropave halo, matte/brushed white gold). Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE the ring I’m getting made, and it’s still very unique, but I’d be lying if I said outside opinions didn’t influence my choice.

Haters gonna hate. I got what I love and couldn’t care less about what that peanut gallery has to say.

@linnylou_88:  I got my band from ebay lord of gem rings and asked for it to be made as a half eternity in 10k gold since that’s what my e-ring is.  I’ve seen similar rings on etsy but they were double the price and i just preferred the look of the LOGR one in the end.  My only regret is that the shank is quite thin but i’ve spoken to a local jeweller and it can be re-shanked for around £70 which is what i’ll do in the future when i’ve finished loosing weight!

I can’t find any pics of the band alone on my finger on the computer but here’s the stock picture, i’ll get a pic of it worn alone at some point tomorrow. I was really unsure whether it’d look ok or not with my e-ring but i thought for the price that i’d take the risk and wear it on my other hand if it looked awful!

@linnylou_88:  Nope, not at all. That said, IRL I haven’t had any negative comments about my ring/s; though it’s a good thing I have a thick skin as clusters are hated on here lol

As far as the wedding goes, one thing I struggle with is the cost; it’s costing a LOT, and some people are really judgemental; not bout us personally as I’ve only shared the budget with a handful of people, but about spending the kind of cash we are in general. I will admit, it has had me second-guessing our choice and wondering if we should have just had a cheap and cheerful backyard after party :-/

@linnylou_88:  a few years ago people would have been able to influence my decision. I’m getting a pear solitaire, which many people hate. My generation always thinks about when Aiden proposed to Carrie on SATC with one and she vomited at he sight of it haha. I don’t care though cause I love it and its been my dream shape for years. Get what you love girl 🙂
