lia22:  Hmm… I looked up an old thread where TTR responded, and it shows that she still is a member. This new WB is confusing me!

If she is still a member, I do know that she travels a lot, so that could be why she’s taking a break.

This site is just not as user friendly as it used to be…as many bees have said it sucks coming on here and waiting forever for pages to load. I can barely come on here via mobile because the site doesn’t save my username despite selecting “remember me” and it takes forever to load. I love the bee so this type of stuff sucks

Ha, I even typed a response to this thread and WB ate it. Greeeaaaat. Good use of time. lol, but seriously the site just doesn’t work a good chunk of time. I’m apparently missing whole links/features (ideas, support, so I couldn’t even request support if I thought it would help). But also, there’s actually almost no way for the mods to mod the site right now, which has resulted in a HUGE amount of troll posts and drama baiting. If I sign on and the whole first page is BS drama baiting from totally new users – I’m out.

Yeah… Between having to scroll through so many pages to see threads, not being able to see if I have any new messages while on my phone, having all my pics gone, not getting directed to a reply at the right point in the thread… Meh, it’s not as fun.

Like PPs, I also feel badly for the tech team – but really, it seems like the new design is missing most good parts of the bee and is just a way to increase clicks and ad sales.

I know I for sure spend a lot less time on here since the new format. Too many pages to scroll through and I feel like they only put like 5 responses on a page so you are always clicking next…its not user friendly and I wish they would seriously change it back This new site is awful.

I didn’t post that much anyway but I bet I am not alone in being way less active on the site.

I’ve been pretty MIA lately, mostly because of how sparse for content the homepage of the “boards” is – above the fold I can see 4 threads, all stickies, and several lines of previews for each. Then I scroll down and can only see 7 thread titles at one time, again with several lines of preview text per each, and I also cannot see what subforum each thread belongs to and do not have time to click each one to find out. (Ergo “Help!” doesn’t get a click from me)

What made me post so much on the old board was that I was bombarded with like 30 easy-to-read thread titles on the homepage, and as I scrolled down I’d click “right click -> open in new tab” for 7 or 8 threads that sounded interesting. Then I’d post in 4 or 5 of those.

An immediate solution to get me active posting again would be to kill a lot of the whitespace (simple cell paddings and stuff), kill (or make optional) the thread previews, and shrink the font size of the thread titles. All of this so that I can see like 15+ thread titles without scrolling at all, and like 30+ thread titles after scrolling through the homepage. If I’m exposed to more threads I post in more threads, basically.

I work in software so I’m trying not to be impatient with these changes. In fact, I’m super impressed with how quickly they seem to be fixing up the little issues that come about, and that they’re really listening to input from us! There are not a lot of websites out there that will take in consideration what others think about the site. I really think they are doing their best.

Hopefully those who have chosent to take a break from the site, eventually return once things are running more smoothly.

i’m with you guys. i feel like i don’t recognize ANYONE anymore. where is everybody? the community definitely has a very… detached vibe these days. and i don’t like it one bit. i’m hoping regs will come back in the coming days and we can get the bee back on track.

and also i DESPERATELY hope they fix the “threads i commented on” section to be similar to the old format. everything in there right now is like MONTHS old and i’m so perplexed by it.

count me among the Bees spending most time elsewhere for a while until things get better around here. I don’t want to waste a bomb-ass thread idea while none of the funny folks are around to make it great!!

It’s true – I know it’s hard because they developed a new site entirely, so obviously things wouldn’t be the same… however I really think instead of a big SURPRISE for everyone, they should have had a thread going about what was important to everyone.

lolot:  it really seems like they’re trying to increase clicks and ad revenue. I don’t necessarily blame them, but it’s really changed the usability of the site. I can’t quickly login and see the top threads anymore. It’s just a big headache. I miss just seeing the subject line, what category it was in, and how many comments.

I really hope we see the changes soon… and by changes I mean reverting back to the likeness of the old bee.

The new crappy WB has actually pushed me back into high-productivity mode on my dissertation. I used to waste hours wandering around here while I procrastinated and now it’s so painful that it’s no longer worth it. I pop in once a day, take a peek at the first page of posts and find nothing interesting, and now it’s too complicated to find my way to something I’d like.

I assumed that a lot of bees are posting less or just taking a break while they and everyone gets used to the new format, bugs are worked out, etc.  I’m guessing that once people have time to setting into a groove with the new site we’ll see some regualr posters back at it.

I have been more of a lurker be, than worker bee, but even I am on here a lot less. I love change & progress on websites – never one to complain about constant changes a la Facebook. However, this is all a bit much.

It is not intuitive or easy to follow.

Difficult to find threads & seems like many are missing altogether.

I really watched for Bees that were either from my area or getting married around the same time, so having location & wedding date missing is a huge miss for me.

Also, having the page navigation within threads AFTER “Related Topics” I suspect makes a lot of users not realize that there are more pages in the thread. Also, with the related topics mostly pulling from threads that are months old, means really old threads are being bumped and current content is getting lost in the shuffle.

Change is good, but it needs to be in stages. This is all too much.

Let me just say….you ALMOST lost me!  I couldn’t log on for like 2 weeks after the upgrade.  It kept saying my password was wrong and then wouldn’t let me reset it.  Finally was able to come back on today, but I bet a lot of girls just created a new account

DH and I are planning a cross-country move so now that the Bee is working out its quirks – I can spend less time here and more time on planning the move (as I should have been all along, lol).

One new quirk that popped up is that there is some random post above the OPs on some threads – the order is basically messed up.

The topic ‘Did some bees disappear?’ is closed to new replies.
