I love having a solitaire oval ring! It’s simple/classic but also a little different and unique. No regrets here!

Oval IS a classic shape…. if anything more so than round!

The only opinions that matter are yours and your fiance’s – get a ring you both love and don’t care what anyone else thinks x

Get what you love! My first engagement ring was princess cut. Something I wanted for a long time. I started warming up to rounds before I got engaged again, and he surprised me with a round solitaire. I love it now, but if I had been given it the first time around I would have been disappointed. I thought rounds were far too common and therefore, a little boring. I now appreciate the classic beauty, but I wouldn’t have been happy with that at one time. I think if you get something different than you love, mistakenly thinking you should love something else, you’ll always think back to what you really wanted. Definitely go with your heart on this one ๐Ÿ™‚

I’m in the minority here.  My goal when picking out my stone was to get the biggest stone I could within our budget… but I didn’t really understand how different diamonds “faced up” impacting that size.  I picked out a 1.9 carat cushion because it was cheaper than a 1.9 round.

I love my cushion. It is huge and sparkly.  It has sentimental attachment.  But… I really like rounds and should have just gotten a round.

I think it depends on where you are at.  If you love rounds but are compromising with a fancy shape because of price or you are gravitating toward the trendiness of a pear or oval – I would proceed with caution.  If you just straight up love a pear and oval and imagine that being your forever rock (even if a marquise raises in popularity again, for example) – then go for it!

I was dead set on a princess or round cut solitaire, wanted nothing to do with halos because I thought they were too trendy… until my husband showed me an elongated cushion halo. I absolutely love it and feel like it’s more “me” than a round or princess solitaire. No regrets!

I have a pear and my Fiance has an oval, neither of us has ever regretted choosing them over a round. Rounds are ridiculously common and I love having something that’s a bit more unusual and unique.

My ring isn’t even predominantly a diamond. tongue-out It’s a moonstone with small diamonds on the band. So far I don’t regret it (it’s only been two months lol) but I don’t think I will. I’ve just never personally been a diamond kind of gal. Don’t get me wrong, I think they are beautiful! But moonstones have ALWAYS been my weakness. I love, love, love my ring. And I wouldn’t have it any other way.

I remember I wanted an Art-Deco sunburst around a round diamond and asked my mom if I should go with something “classic” like just a round. She told me that my engagement ring is something that should make me happy when I look at it and something that should be fun and whimsical. So I went with what I like and, almost a year later, still can’t stop looking at it! ๐Ÿ™‚ Also, ovals are GORGEOUS, so do it!

Asscher here! I love step-cuts. And I find that round stones just don’t look good on me.

I always thought I wanted a round ring, had never even considered any other shapes, but then my sister got engaged with an oval ring and as soon as I saw it, I fell in love with the oval shape. So that’s definitely what I’m going to get, and there’s no way I’ll regret it.

My original ring 15yrs ago was round. I didn’t love it. But I was young and had no idea there were other options. I really liked princess cut at the time but something about the sharp corners just wasn’t right for me. I recently got an antique cushion cut and it’s perfect. Exactly what I’ve always wanted… i just didn’t know it.
