We were going to do one, when we moved 2 years ago, but we havent yet. Once our kitchen is remodeled, our wedding is over, and our new deck is stained, then we will be ready for one…probably in the fall. We are going to make it a “look what we’ve done!” or a “before and after!” party…so I think you can have one whenever…especially if you are doing work around the house, I’d get it all done (or a large part of it) and then host the party so everyone can appreciate all you’ve done!

Do the party if you want to, but I think trying to fit it in before the wedding might be a little crazy stressful!

We moved in on June 25th and had our housewarming July 16th.  It sounds like August might be easiest for you guys.

We did a housewarming party about a month after we moved in, mostly because the timing worked out well – it was FI’s  birthday, and we were finished fasting. We are Hindu and it was around Diwali so we were fasting (no meat, liquor) and didn’t think it was a good time to have a party. As soon as the holiday passed, we had the party 🙂

I did mine about 3 months after I moved in, because the house needed quite a bit of work before it was “visitor ready.”  I believe the proper etiquette rule is that you have up to a year, so if you want to delay a bit, you should have no problem— I’d not take the whole year, but a few months should still be within that “new house” window. If anyone asks, just say you were not ready for company before then.  (Or uninvite them because honestly it’s kind of crass to question anyone’s party timing.)

We moved in March and we aren’t having ours until June! That’s just the best time for us.

I would say do it in August so you don’t feel rushed doing your projects.  We didn’t have one, just invited our famlies for dinner a few months after we moved in.

Every person that came brought us a plant and they all died..  I am such a brown thumb haha!

We did ours a month after moving in. sounds like August would be the least busiest time for you, though!
