Your cuticles won’t show up in pictures unless you do a close-up shot of just your hands.  I didn’t paint my nails and I honestly didn’t even think about it until this post.  I had to go pull up the pictures to see what I had done.

If you normally paint your nails or want to have nicely painted nails, then go for it!  If you don’t, I wouldn’t worry about it.  I would recommend getting a manicure for your wedding day though.

We didn’t do any ring photos because he doesn’t have one yet. You can certainly see my ring in many photos, but a photo isn’t really necessary. You will get plenty of hand photos with rings at your wedding.

I just had all natural nails, and they’re pretty shitty. Looked fine in photos though, so I’m glad I didn’t spring for a mani. I am for the wedding though.

@Laurenskii:  If you are going for the close up hand photo, then get a mani. Otherwise you may not like the photo and that defeats the purpose of getting one.

However, if you don’t have time, then don’t do it. You may lose one photo you wanted, but its just the epics.

@Laurenskii:  I kinda wish I’d had a pro do them, but I was really careful doing them myself and they came out okay.

@Laurenskii:  my engagement photos are this weekend and I was just going get a mani since we are in the middle of winter in Buffalo, NY and it’s -10 I don’t have to worry about my piggies 🙂 the only reason I am getting a mani is because my cuticle are horrendous. Usually I wouldn’t spend the money because I constantly am washing my hands at work and home and it never lasts.

I usually don’ thaave my nails painted so I thought it would look more unusual if I had them done. I just trimmed and filed and put on some clear polish. Here’s a picture from our engagement shoot.

@Laurenskii:  you can do them yourself just fine! Just soak your fingers in warm water and put in some essential oils (or even olive oil), then gently push back your cuticles. Wipe your nails with acetone before painting, then use a rich cream, cuticle oil or even olive/coconut oil to moisturize after.

It may not yield perfect cuticles but it should be good enough for sone hand photos!

I did my own nails (nail polish hoarder here) and I’m glad I did. There aren’t any close ups of our hands but you do see my nails in a lot of pictures for one reason or another.
