My dress was strapless and I added a bolero for the illusion of sleeves.  I wore it backwards and tied it in the back.  I took it off later in the evening for dancing.

I had cap sleeves added on mine, not full sleeves (I didn’t want a strapless dress), but I do have full-length sleeve pics from when I was in the process of deciding what I wanted. I originally wanted full-length sleeves, but it ended up just feeling a little too boho and casual, rather than the romantic vintage-inspired feel I wanted.

When my seamstress modified the sleeves into cap sleeves it just made my vision come true for my dress. Apologies in advance, it is a little pic heavy, lol.

During:

(Neckline wasn’t quite right [below]. The lace fabric is the same fabric that the dress is made of, so if you do decide to do sleeves make sure that the store orders fabric from the designer, so it looks like it is an extension of the dress.)

(3/4ths sleeves possibility)

After:

(The perfect romantic feel! I loved that since the fabric is the same lace as what is on the bodice, it looks like was a part of the dress. Photos really don’t do my dress and the artistic talent of the seamtress justice. It looks much better in person)

chatnoir :  I think the sleeves took your dress to a whole other level. Just beautiful! Three cheers for your seamstress.

observer :  Thank you! She really has great skill.

runbmc :  Yes, totally! The decision making process was so hard for me. I know it is for a lot of brides. I got to see the final cap sleeves with my dress 6 days before my wedding, so there was no time to fix it even if I wanted to. I changed my mind like 3 or 4 times up to that point. Thankfully it worked out.

I recommend trying on some dresses with sleeves to make sure you like it. I loved the look of them but every time I tried a dress with sleeves I felt a million times hotter in it. If your dress is lace have the bridal store order extra lace. I still may add beaded sleeves but I’m going to wait till my dress comes in.

I only tried on a few and I was surprised how hot they made me when it was sheer material with appliqué. It’s a shame because I do love how they look but CA can be so hot I new it would be a bad idea. But I. Sure you will be able to come up with something ❤️
