We did. Giving them to our parents was fine– they enjoyed having good photos of us. Now, a mass mailing may be misunderstood. And we wanted them, really, for us to have. It’s nice to have high quality photos at every stage of your relationship. Now what confused his fam was when he called to tell them he bought my ring– emails of congratulations came pouring in, but unfortunately, there wasn’t a proposal yet!

Just about any couple photo session can look like an engagement session because a session focusing on the love you share, but as long as he’s not on one knee placing a ring on your finger, you’ll be fine 🙂

My cousin did them. They turned out great and she posted them on Facebook with a note that they were not engagement photos so there was no confusion.

@kansas_nurse:  Hopefully he’s on the same page– it would be a great proposal in front of the camera! Since he’s agreed to them, go ahead and book ’em. Who knows what he has planned. Yep, I had to respond, “Thanks DH’s grandmother, but he just bought the ring. It’s not on my finger yet.” Fortunately, I was there when he bought it, so I knew. But they sent me the congrats emails!

I’ll be honest, my brother did this with his girlfriend and we all thought it was kind of weird. We call them the “un-engagement” photos.

I did with an ex, who I thought I was going to get engaged to sometime. We did a few after giving a donation to our local fire department, then we got some done on our cruise. Really, looking back, I feel it was a waste of money.
