Mine was $1200, which I was very happy with! I was hoping to keep it under $1500, so glad that it came in under budget! With my veil and accessories I am looking at $1600 before alterations, so it looks like I should be able to stay within my planned $2k for my total.

I agree that the term “ridiculous” has negative connotations, but a dress could also be “ridiculously” cheap (One of my bridesmaids got her wedding dress for $80–it was a gorgeous off-white Grecian column dress, never worn, tulle in perfect condition.)

To me, my dress was ridiculous — $2300 without alterations. To someone in NYC or Beverly Hills, that’s probably chump change, but when most of my friends and family got their dresses at David’s or on Craigslist or Ebay, that’s still spendy to the point that I don’t talk about the price for fear of being rude.

And though I feel like I already post too many pics, there was a request to see the dress, so I’ll bite

Mine was about $3,000 after alterations and embellishments. I spent $1500 more than I wanted to spend, but I think it will be worth it. I LOVE my dress.

I told my Fiance I would stay under $500 and with tax it was $496.  I love it, and got it from a small boutique in a small town (so they don’t mark us as much) who’s owner happens to be my aunts best friend (insert family discount) and she was getting ready to change over to the 2011 gowns so had to get rid of the 2010’s (insert another discount)… I got lucky!!!

My dress was just over $1200 CDN before alterations. This is me in the way-too-big sample. Can’t wait for mine to come in.

My gown retails for 1200… A guy I have been friends with for years bought the dress for his fiance… MY dream dress but it wasnt in the budget my cap was 500. I went to try on dresses and put as my fb status that I tried them on and have some decisions to make!! THen he (my friend) emailed me. Saying that he still has the dress that he bought for his now ex fiance. (she cheated.. alot) and he thought it was my size and sent me a link so i could see it online. It was my dress I couldnt believe it I just left the store in tears bc this same dress was over my budget! He said that I could pick it up and try it on… It was my size fits like a glove.. Of course my mom and I fell in love all over again… He said he wanted it out of his house and has no other use for it but to help out a friend so he let us have it for $400 I cried I was so happy!!! Now I get to wear the dress of my dreams I couldnt afford before!!
