Hell frigin no! Dress 1 was just for fun at a very crappy place. Although my mom loved it & wanted to buy it on the spot lol.

It was A-line which was not the silhouette I was going for.

I almost did. I think my family wanted me to and the consultant – but she was extremely pushy to make a SALE – saying I will take such and such a percent off if you buy it now I already told her that it was my first time!

I originally wanted a lace dress which is exactly what I tried on Allure 9018. While it was BEAUTIFUL – I felt like it wasn’t “WOW” I was looking for.
The next appointment at another bridal salon they had the same dress and I tried it on after some dresses that I relly loved to see if it was still the “ONE” and it was far from it. I’m glad I didn’t rush my decision.

@MissSweetiepie:   No, but I ended trying on the first dress a total of three times (in two colors) over the course of dress shopping.  It was a lovely dress, and would have been fine – it was the Emma dress by Maggie Sottero.

No, but it was a serious contender for a long time. I went to the store specifically for that dress though, it wasn’t a random choosing first dress.

I did! I only tried on about 6 dresses.

No, but I probably should have.  I had seen the dress online and liked it a lot.  It looked great on me and fit me well.  Would have only needed to be hemmed.  And it was on sale.

I love the dress I bought, but it needs a lot of alterations to fit me well.  Second fitting is next week and I hope it fits better this time.

I didn’t buy the first dress I tried on, but I bought the dress I found during the first day of dress shopping.

I bought my dress without trying it on or seeing it in person! I stumbled upon it while browsing online for a dress to wear to a friend’s wedding over a year away. It was a bit too formal to wear as a guest for someone else’s wedding (it’s actually supposed to be a prom dress I think), so I sulked and wished upon a star for some kind of occasion to come up where I’d have an excuse to buy it. I’d known for years that I wanted to wear a light blue wedding dress with yellow accents, whether they’d be flowers in my hair or bouquet. Anyway, a little under a year later my wonderful guy popped the question and we had a less than 2 week engagement. I had a valid excuse to buy the dress! I didn’t have time to get it altered so it was too long for me and I had to stuff my bra like a 12-year-old but I had my light blue dress with yellow sequined and beaded flowers on it!

@MissSweetiepie:  I voted “yes” because it’s true- I did buy the first dress I tried on.  But between trying it on and buying it, I probably tried on another 15- to be sure!!

I did!  I live in the boonies and didn’t want to bother traveling to a briday shop if I could avoide it.  Also didn’t want to spend a bunch on a dress, even though I’m ok spending a fair bit on food / drink / photography / venue / etc.  My style is fairly relaxed and I didn’t want a dress that was over the top.

So, I ordered a bunch of white “evening gowns” from online retailers.  The first one I put on just felt so comfortable and slimming and perfect.  And it was $120 – score.  I did try a few more on over several months, but I stuck with the first one.  I loved it on my wedding day and so did everyone else 🙂

Non-pro pic, excuse the stupid face:

I tried on over 100 dresses before I found one that I loved.

I went to the shop with one dress in mind.  The consultant had me pick a few more to try on before the one.  None of them measured up!  I got the last dress I tried on, but it’s the one I wanted all along!
